Sports & Clubs Get Underway
Fall Sports Begin Next Week
If your student is interested in participating in any sport at Daniel Wright for the 2023-2024 school year, there must be a physical on file with the school nurse PRIOR to participating in any sport. Physicals are good for one calendar year plus one month of physical date.
A permission to participate form is also required to participate in sports practices and tryouts. These forms are available in the front office, online, from coaches or the Athletic Director.

Fall Clubs & Activities
Catalyst Club: The Catalyst Club is a leadership group dedicated to supporting and encouraging a drug- and alcohol-free lifestyle for the youth in our community.
Show Choir: Show Choir is an auditioned vocal ensemble that focuses on learning advanced repertoire including a cappella pop, jazz, swing, and musical theatre featuring intricately harmonized vocals with choreography. To learn more, come to room 124 during your flex period or email Mr. Clark. Chorus enrollment is open through September 1!
Free to Be: Free to Be is for LGBTQAI+ and straight allies to promote respect and inclusion within our school community.
Jazz Band: Jazz Band is open to all DW students with prior experience playing an instrument.
Model UN: The Model UN Team is open to all DW students who like to analyze, formulate, and present persuasive arguments.
Science Olympiad: Science Olympiad is open to students in grades 6-8. It is intended to improve the quality of science education, increase student interest in science, and create a technologically literate workforce while providing recognition for outstanding achievement by students. Please fill out the Science Olympiad interest form.
Science Bowl: Science Bowl tryouts will take place on Tuesday, September 5, in room 208 at 3:35 p.m. and will last one hour. Visit the website for more tryout information. National Science Bowl® (NSB) is a highly competitive science education and academic event among teams of middle school students grades 6-8 who compete in a fast-paced verbal forum to solve technical problems and answer questions in all branches of science and math.
Student Council: Student Council provides opportunities for students to demonstrate their talents, skills, and interests while continuing to develop leadership skills.
Wright Way Club: Wright Way Club (WWC) is a peer leadership program. Wright Way Club members promote tolerance and acceptance for all students. WWC members organize local and global fundraisers, providing students an opportunity to develop leadership skills.
Yearbook: The Yearbook Club edits, designs, and creates the student yearbook.

Add $$ to Lunch Account
Students pay for school lunches using MySchoolBucks. Students will have ID cards that show their lunch balance. We encourage you to sign up for autoreplenish so your account does not go negative. You should also sign up for Low Balance Emails so you are notified if account is low. Quest Food Services, the district's lunch provider puts lunch menus in FD MealPlanner.
Partnership News
Support the Learning Fund Foundation at Culver's of Lincolnshire from August 28-31. Name the foundation and Culver's will donate 25% of sales to the organization.
