UPDATE - VOLUNTEER GUIDELINES
Per Administrative Regulation 1240 and Board Policy 1240, all volunteers who work directly with students, will need to obtain the following clearance in order to do so:
TB Clearance
Proof of COVID vaccination
Registration on our RAPTOR system
*Fingerprinting - for more than 5 hours per year (obtained through the district’s Human Resources Department)
If your volunteering schedule aligns with these parameters, please complete the document below and turn it into the front office as soon as possible. The deadline to turn it in will be October 31st, and anyone who has not turned in their form and cleared will no longer be able to work with students while volunteering. This form will be sent to Human Resources, who will reach out to you with additional information.
SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL
Our first School Site Council Meeting will be held on Monday, September 26th via Zoom (https://glendaleusd.zoom.us/j/87830284622). All Monte Vista parents are able to attend School Site Council meetings.
KOREAN DUAL LANGUAGE IMMERSION TOURS
Monte Vista offers 50:50 dual immersion programs beginning in kindergarten. If you know of someone interested in applying for our Korean DLI program, please ask them to visit our school website and sign up for one of our tours.
Glendale Unified's Dual Language Immersion programs require an application - click here to apply. The application window for the 2022-23 school year will be November 1, 2022 through January 31, 2023.
Calling all writers! The Monty Times needs you! If your 4th, 5th or 6th grader wants to create, investigate, write a story, write some jokes or edit a newspaper, have them come to the first Monty Times meeting on Wednesday, September 28 from 1:40 -2:30 to find out more. Meeting will be in Room 4109.
ARMENIAN SCHOOL
Armenian School is being offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. Program is 2 hours after dismissal time. Sign up at www.dmef.org or find out more information here.
PANORAMA SURVEY
Students in grades 4-6 will be participating in the Panorama Survey to gather actionable data on socioemotional learning at school sites. A letter with more information was sent home through ParentSquare. If you have any questions or do not want your child to participate, please contact Jessica Isco at jisco@gusd.net, Teacher Specialist
REMINDERS
Cell phones and Apple watches are allowed at school, however, they must be turned off and kept in students’ backpacks during the school day. As stated in our Student Handbook, “The unauthorized use of devices that disrupt school activities will lead to their confiscation by school officials. The device will be returned at the end of the day to a parent or guardian.”

PTA
Our next Association meeting is on Thursday, October 6th at 7 pm in the auditorium. We have a surprise dessert treat for all in attendance, along with a special topic once the PTA portion of the meeting concludes. Please join us!
115% MEMBERSHIP ACHIEVED!! ONE MORE WEEK TO GO!
We have reached over 115% participation for the entire school! Congrats!! And THANK YOU for your generosity! We currently have 22/27 classes earning their popsicle party! The race ENDS THIS FRIDAY, so there is still time to get 100% in your class! Don't forget, PTA membership is $10 and our goal is to get at least 1 member per student. THANK YOU! Monte Vista rocks!!

DOLLAR-A-DAY CAMPAIGN - ONE MORE WEEK TO GO!
Unfortunately tax dollars simply don’t fund all of the enrichment programs and events that our school provides for our students. How can you help? We suggest a contribution of $1 for each day of the school year, for a total of $180 per student. Learn more here

PTA DINE OUT WEDNESDAY, September 28 (SAVE THE DATE)
A special DINE OUT at India’s Flavor in Glendale. Dine-in, delivery, pick up, or take-out during 11:30 AM - 2:30 PM and 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM. They will donate 10% of ALL proceeds to our school.
