PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Hello Sutter Families,
We look forward to the month of November! Although it seems to end in a blink on an eye, November is full of excitement. We look forward to modeling our Character Pillar, Respect throughout the month. We will also cheer on our Girls Soccer team and our Boys’ Basketball teams! There will be no school November 11th, as we honor our Veterans and we will have a minimum day November 18th, the day before Thanksgiving Break. Sutter Middle School is also excited to bring back Team Day, November 18th. Team Day gives each grade level Advisory class an opportunity to show school spirit through fun, friendly games and competitions throughout the day. We will return to school November 28th. We truly appreciate our parent/family support and we look forward to another great month!
Sincerely,
Tarik McFall

VOLUNTEER at SMS
Our process is now online!
Step 1: Complete the “online” volunteer application. Please note that TB tests must have been completed in the past 60 days. You can visit your physician for this assessment or you can attend one of the courtesy TB Test Clinics sponsored by FCUSD. You can find the list of scheduled clinics here.
Step 2: If you are applying to be a Category 2 Volunteer, you will need to complete a live-scan fingerprinting for DOJ criminal background clearance. You must obtain a FCUSD issued live scan form from the school office to complete the fingerprinting process with a third party. Please contact your parent coordinator for this form. This is REQUIRED regardless if you have had a Live Scan done for another district. This cost is not covered by the District. If you have previously had fingerprints processed for FCUSD, you DO NOT need to process them again unless otherwise directed.
Click on this link to complete your volunteer application.
Please contact our parent coordinator, Mona Noel - mnoel@fcusd.org, for more information.
Thank you again for supporting our schools!

FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE
Sutter Middle School
A Note from the Health Office Regarding Medications
Hello!
We just want to send out a reminder about the school’s policy on medications. If your student is needing any medication, we must have a signed form on file in the health office along with the medication in the health office.
Students are not allowed to have medication in their possession at any time. The only exceptions are:
· Students with asthma are allowed to carry an inhaler if there is a signed medical form from the child’s physician.
· Students with anaphylaxis are allowed to carry an EpiPen if there is a signed medical form from the child’s physician.
The school does not supply medication of any type. The student’s parent or guardian must provide all medication needed to be taken at school. This includes all prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medication including but not limited to pain relievers (ibuprofen or acetaminophen), cough drops, antacids, creams, and ointments.
The school nurse, health assistant, or other designated school personnel will administer the medication to a student provided that the school office has received the following:
· A district medication consent form signed by the physician and parent for prescription medication.
· A district medication consent form signed by the parent/guardian for over-the-counter (OTC) medication.
· The medication is sent to school in the original unopened over-the-counter (OTC) container or pharmacy prescription container.
· Medications for 6th grade students shall be brought to the health office by a parent, guardian, or designated adult. Students 7th and 8th grade are allowed to bring OTC and (non-controlled) prescription medications to the health office.
· Refills of medication are the responsibility of the parent/guardian.
· All medications shall be held in the school office, in a secure location, in the original container labeled with the student’s name.
· Parents need to be in constant communication with the office when their students are on daily medication, or at any time they are concerned, even if the medication is not given during the school hours. Please inform the school if your student is taking a medication that may affect his/her behavior.
· Parents and students are responsible to pick up any remaining medications at the end of the school year, or the left over medications will be discarded.
NO MEDICATION CAN BE GIVEN WITHOUT FOLLOWING THE ABOVE PROCEDURES! (Ed. Code 11753.1)
Thank you and please reach out with any questions or concerns!
