Stage Notes

East Lincoln High School Chorus & Theatre Newsletter

April 2021

The Stage Notes Newsletter is published the first of every month and contains lots of information about both the Theatre Arts and Choral Music programs at East Lincoln High School. We want to try not only to get the word out about upcoming performances but also to keep our community up-to-date on what our students are doing and how they can partner with us to produce the highest quality programs.

If you have friends, family, or neighbors who would enjoy this monthly look into theatre and chorus, share with them our website, www.EastLincolnOnStage.org, and they can sign up to receive the newsletter at the bottom of any page.

Thanks for being a part of our performing arts community!

ANOTHER ONE IN THE BOOKS!

Big picture
In the midst of the "COVID-Chaos," some amazing young actors presented seven AMAZING performances of Shrek the Musical! Their creativity, energy, and showmanship grew with each new audience. Thank you to everyone who experienced one of our in-person shows or one of our virtual streaming performances. We appreciate you SO MUCH!

But wait! If you were not able to connect with one of these performances and would still like to experience this hilarious and touching performance, we have a unique opportunity for you!

It is a rare occasion that we are able to secure a license allowing us to film and distribute a show, but DVDs ARE AVAILABLE for this feature. If you would like to secure a copy, please visit eastlincolnonstage.org/DVD to place your order. All we ask is that you purchase for yourself and your immediate household and do not duplicate the work to share with others.

There is some BIG news to share about our Sponsor-A-Seat Campaign! An amazingly generous offer has been made to match each donation between now and June 1! What does that mean? When you sponsor ONE chair, you actually get a PAIR! Maybe you wanted to sponsor a seat, but the cost was a bit more than you could make happen. Now, with a little help from our friend, you can sponsor a chair and leave a legacy for HALF PRICE!

Whether you are a "half-off" or a "buy-one-get-one" person, we hope you will help us take advantage of this awesome opportunity through June 1. Wouldn't it be FABULOUS if we could have all of our new chairs in place for the last show of the season?

For more information about this campaign, or to purchase your chair, please visit the link below.

Tickets On Sale May 1

East Lincoln on Stage will bring to life this hilarious stage adaptation of the favorite children's book series. A prequel to Peter Pan, Peter and the Starcatcher provides background information for all of the characters we know and love. With heartwarming friendship, an enormous amount of hilarity, pirates, and a sprinkle of theatre magic, this show is not to be missed!

Peter and the Starcatcher is the perfect show for children of all ages. We have even added two special showings with our young audiences in mind. On Saturday, May 15 and 22 at 11 am, we will have enhanced performances for young audiences. These Saturday morning events are not limited to children but will have some "extras" with child audiences in mind.

Tickets go on sale May 1 at EastLincolnOnStage.org. Admission is $10. Currently, all performances will be capped at 50. If state regulations change between now and then, we will adjust accordingly.

Brush up on your pirate skills and make sure to join us for what we know will be an audience favorite!

Who Will You Be This Summer?

We are ecstatic to be bringing back our summer theatre camp in 2021! Two years ago, we had an amazing experience with awesome campers staging Seussical Kids. This summer Olaf will finally get to find out what it is like in summer as we stage Frozen Kids. This camp will be a blizzard of fun for boys and girls alike. We welcome campers who are going into Kindergarten through Eighth Grade.

For more information and to register your camper, visit EastLincolnOnStage.org/camp. Use coupon code EARLYBIRD to receive $25 off registration before June 1.

We can't wait to see you!

SPRING CHORAL CONCERT SCHEDULED

It has been over a year since our last choral concert, and we are very happy to announce that we WILL be able to wrap up this year with a year-end concert. The concert is scheduled to be held in the Black Box Theater, but may be moved outside if current restrictions and safety concerns necessitate.

"I WISH THERE WERE EAST LINCOLN LANYARDS!"

We Heard You, And They Are Here!

Have you wished someone was selling East Lincoln lanyards so you could show your MUSTANG PRIDE while hanging on to your keys and nametag? Well, we heard that several times and decided to make it happen. The East Lincoln StageHANDS are selling ELHS lanyards, for $5. With a detachable "J' hook, these lanyards are versatile enough for just about anyone.

You can pick yours up by visiting the school between 7 AM and 4 PM, or at any of our concerts or productions.

We are so grateful to the local businesses and organizations who have already joined us as sponsors and advertisers for 2021. It is not too late to become a sponsor or add your business to our current list of advertisers. Check out the forms below for more information on becoming a supporter in 2021.

Did you know that one piece of music for a choir of 20 costs $55 making the total cost for a concert around $500?

Did you know that it costs around $2,000 for rights, royalties, and materials for a musical production? Those costs do not include costumes, sets, make-up, special effects, or musicians. Straight plays are a bit cheaper, but still, have some of the same monetary needs.

While expensive, these productions are amazing and wonderful laboratory settings for students to act, create, and collaborate all while learning a plethora of skills that will serve them both in the arts and in their future academic and professional endeavors.

That's where YOU come in! Sponsors and advertisers FOUR CHORAL CONCERTS, FOUR MAINSTAGE PRODUCTIONS, TWO CLASS PRODUCTIONS, and a partridge in a pear tree (well, not really!)

If you have any questions about our programs, the levels of partnership, or how the funds are used, please contact Mr. Franklin.

We look forward to seeing your businesses and organizations in our 2021 playbills!
