CHS Cougar News
August 30, 2020
From the Principal's Office
It's hard to believe, but summer has officially come to an end, and we will be back to school THIS WEEK! Our CHS staff has spent the last week feverishly preparing for the start of what will be an exciting school year for us all. They have been busy making safety modifications to their classrooms; engaging in professional development on topics involving best practices in face-to-face and and remote instruction; brainstorming how we can maximize learning within the Cohort and Clinton Connect models, and learning about how we will work together to keep everyone physically and emotionally safe. Never in my life have I witnessed such a focused and unselfish effort by a group of people. I am so fortunate, thankful, and honored to be a part of this team!
Our school year will begin TOMORROW - August 31st, when we will have our Ready, Set, Go! Advisory conferences. This will be a time for Advisory (Homeroom) teachers to connect with families and students over the phone to discuss important information regarding the start of the school year, and to answer any questions you might have. If you have not already signed up for an appointment, we will be calling you anyway. :)
INSTRUCTIONS FOR READY, SET, GO! Conferences: All you need to do is be available to take a phone call...we will reach out to you! We will also send out an email recapping talking points that will be covered in all conferences whether we are able to connect with you on the phone or not.
Lastly, I'd like to officially welcome three new Cougars who have joined our ranks this past week. They are:
- Mrs. Lexi Monroe, School Counselor
- Mrs. Karli Paynter, Work-based Learning Coordinator; and
- Mr. Ryan Ellifson, Science Teacher
I can't wait to start another school year with you all! This will be one for the record books, for sure. But, I am more confident than ever that WE'VE GOT THIS, COUGARS!
Mrs. Franz
Cohorts
All students have been assigned Cohorts. Families with students that have different last names will be placed in the cohort of the oldest sibling's last name.
Cohort A (students with last names starting with A-K) will be called the Cougar Cohort
Cohort B (students with last names starting with L-Z) will be called the Pride Cohort
Chromebook Dispersal
- Cougar Cohort students will receive their Chromebooks on 9/2.
- Pride Cohort students will receive their Chromebooks on 9/4.
- Clinton Connect students: If you have not yet picked up your Chromebook, please do so TOMORROW 8/31, from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. It is crucial that you have these in time for your first day of school on 9/1!
