Puma Prints
April 1, 2021
We are all excited that students will be returning to in-person learning beginning on Wednesday, April 14th for cohort A students, and Thursday, April 15th for cohort B students. When school begins, we will be opening our doors and starting to check in students beginning at 7:35 am. Classes are schedule to begin at 7:50 am and we will dismiss students at 2:20 pm. We are asking that students do not arrive on campus prior to 7:35 am.
To learn about which cohort your student has been assigned, please log into to Family Access and at the top right corner of the Student Profile page, you will see the Student Alert indicator. Just to the right of the Student Alert Indicator your will see a reddish/orange box. That box will indicate if you student has been assigned to cohort A or B.
I would like to briefly share some background information about how students were assigned to their cohort. Creating cohorts was extremely challenging for a variety of reasons. We have two primary goals that guided our decisions when students were assigned to a cohort. Those goals were;
1. To every reasonable effort to keep students with their current Park Place teachers.
2. To assign students to cohorts that kept siblings, who attended Park Place, in the same cohort and thus attending school on the same days.
I believe we achieved our two goals with our current cohort assignments. With that said, we will not be able to change a student’s assigned cohort. To adhere to the Monroe School District’s distancing guidelines requiring that students maintain 6 feet of spacing, will prevent us from adding students to a given cohort. I am asking for your understanding as to why we will not be able to modify which cohort your child is assigned.
For our 6th graders and new students to Park Place, we will be offering self-guided tours of Park Place on Monday, April 12th from 5:30 to 6:30 pm for cohort A students; and Tuesday, April 13th from 5:30 to 6:30 pm for cohort B students. These tours will be self-guided and staff won’t be available to meet with, or answer your questions. We will be limiting entrance to the building to one parent for each student. All visitors will be required to complete an attestation form and temperatures will be checked will be checked for both the student and parent. If you have any questions about our self-guided tour opportunities, please call the main office at (360) 804-4300.
Thank you for reading my article. Best wishes for a fantastic Spring Break!
