The Falcon Flyer
Weekly News and Updates - Volume 2 Issue 32 - 4/29/22
Signed, Sealed, Delivered!
Spring Open House was a blast, wouldn't you agree? The turnout was HUGE, the smiles were many, and the appreciation felt by our families was palpable. Our school community is so fortunate. Stay tuned next week for the raffle winners announcement!
Today we officially signed our Educational Partnership with the US Navy Squadron VRM-50, the Sun Hawks. SDUSD Board of Education, Dr. Sharon Whitehurst-Payne was in attendance to meet the squadron leadership and thank them for this unique opportunity. Fox 5, KUSI, and XEWT 12 news crews were on scene to capture the moment. We are so thankful for this opportunity and look forward to many more years of partnership with the Sun Hawks.
Next WEEK is a BIG ONE at Fletcher Elementary. Not only is it our Spirit Week to kick-off the month of May, but it's Teacher Appreciation Week too! There's been a mistake on the calendar all year. Teacher Appreciation Week was originally listed as May 9-13th, when it's actually May 2nd-6th. D'oh! Let your teacher know how much you appreciate them in any way you feel would be meaningful.
Next month begins the final full month of school! Can you believe it's already May? Starting May 9th all 3rd-5th graders will begin the annual CAASPP testing. Testing will be each morning throughout the week, so please ensure your student is receiving plenty of rest each night and eating a nutritious breakfast. Our TK-2nd graders will be given the Fountas & Pinnel reading assessment starting on May 16th. This information will show us how much our youngest readers have grown over the course of the year.
