Exhibitors, volunteers and leaders participating in any contests and shows listed below are to follow the Sarpy County Fair 4-H Procedures shared in the section below, in addition to all other specific procedure changes.
SARPY COUNTY FAIR 4-H PROCEDURES
FOR ALL EVENTS
- All 4-H Staff will be required to wear masks or facial coverings as directed by the Dean of Nebraska Extension.
- All 4-H Volunteers will be asked to wear a mask or facial covering and/or commit to maintaining social distancing.
- Multiple Hand Sanitizing stations shall be placed in all building where 4-Hers and Families participate in: Livestock Building, Open Air Building, 4-H Building, Rodeo Arena
- Restrooms shall be cleaned multiple times per day as directed by the Sarpy County Fairboard.
- All surfaces shall be cleaned with an approved disinfectant prior to use and at multiple intervals throughout the day. These may include but are not limited to: Tables, Computers, Bleachers, Railings, Etc.
- All events shall be limited to 4-Hers and immediate family members consisting of: Parents and/or Legal Guardians, Siblings, 4-H Club Leaders
- All 4-H Events will not be publicized as to invite the general public.
- All 4-H Animal Shows and Fashion Show will be live-streamed on Facebook Live
- Lunches for all volunteers and judges will be prepackaged. No food will be prepared and served on site.
ANIMAL SHOW PROCEDURES
4-H Livestock Shows
- All 4-H Livestock Exhibitors are encouraged to wear a mask/face covering in the livestock building and while showing. All will be asked to maintain social distancing.
- All judges, ring stewards and clerks will be encouraged to wear a mask/face covering. All will be asked to maintain social distancing.
- 4-H exhibitor and judges are not to shake hands at the completion of a class as the 4-Her exits the ring.
- Microphones will be sanitized after every show. A separate microphone for the judge and record clerk will be used. (If available)
- All livestock classes shall be broken down into smaller units to accommodate for social distancing in the ring. Breaking of the classes shall be done by the superintendent prior to the start of the show.
- Paper programs will not be available for spectators.
- Programs outlining show order will be placed at multiple places throughout the building.
- It is encouraged that families take picture of the program with their phone and leave the area.
- All livestock, poultry, rabbit, cavy, small pet/cat shows will be a “Show and Go.”
- All trailers will be parked in front of the livestock building and down the midway. All trailers will be asked to be placed at an acceptable distance to avoid unneeded contact with other animals, exhibitors and families.
- All animals will be shown off of trailers with only minimal pens available for swine, sheep or goats.
- All animals will enter the livestock building using the Southeast door.
- Weighing of Market Animals shall be done by (1) parent only. 4-Hers will not be allowed to be next to the scales.
- Wash racks will be available. 4-Hers are asked to bring their own hoses to wash their animals.
- Pens will be arranged with every other pen without a door to maintain distance between animals and exhibitors.
- All pens used must be cleaned up by the exhibitors.
- To maintain social distancing, another set of bleachers will be added around the show ring.
- At the conclusion of all shows, bleachers, railings, tables and other high traffic areas will be cleaned and disinfected using approved CDC disinfection guidelines.
- All livestock, poultry and rabbit shows will be shown in the livestock building. The poultry and rabbit building will not be used.
- All exhibitors and family at the completion of the show, must leave the livestock building ½ hour after the completion of the show.
4-H Rabbit and Poultry Shows
- All rabbits and poultry shall be shown from their respective transport cages.
- Large Ducks, Geese and Turkeys may be shown in a cage provided by the fair.
- Large classes of rabbits and poultry will be broken down into smaller classes to accommodate for social distancing at the exhibition table.
- Microphones used by youth during showmanship and by the judge shall be separate.
- Showmanship Judges and 4-Hers will stay 6 feet apart and/or wear masks/facial coverings.
4-H Dog Show
- All 4-H Dog Exhibitors are encouraged to wear a mask/face covering in the livestock building and while showing. All will be asked to maintain social distancing.
- All judges, ring stewards and clerks will be encouraged to wear a mask/face covering. All will be asked to maintain social distancing.
- 4-H exhibitor and judges are not to shake hands at the completion of a class as the 4-Her exits the ring.

- Crating and belongings will be placed around the outside of the open air building. All crating areas will be asked to be placed at an acceptable distance to avoid unneeded contact with other dogs, exhibitors and families.
- All animals will enter the open air building through the clearly marked areas.
- At the conclusion of all shows, bleachers, railings, tables and other high traffic areas will be cleaned and disinfected using approved CDC disinfection guidelines.
STATIC EXHIBIT PROCEDURES
FOR THE 4-H EXHIBIT HALL
- All 4-H Static 4-H Exhibits will be in the 4-H Building
- 4-H Staff, Judges and Volunteers will be asked to wear masks/facial coverings and/or maintain a 6 ft social distance at all times.
- Hand sanitizing stations will be placed throughout the building.
- Families will be asked to wear a mask/face covering when entering the building and/or maintain social distance of 6 ft.
- Any questions regarding ribbons, supplemental material, etc will be addressed by phone or email at a later date.
STATIC ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS
- All entries must be pre-entered (new this year) and will be mailed entry tags that must be attached to the item.
- Horticulture items are not subject to pre-entry - these can be entered at the time of entry/drop-off appointment.
- All exhibits will be dropped off at the 4-H Exhibit Hall during scheduled family appointments on July 28, left for judging, and picked up from the 4-H Exhibit Hall during scheduled family appointments on July 30.
- Only two family/household members will be allowed to enter, dro- off, and pick-up exhibits during scheduled appointments.
- Exhibits will not be on display for 4-H or public viewing.

CONTEST UPDATES
ROCKET LAUNCH CONTEST
- Entry forms due: July 8
- Contest: July 15 @ Nebraska Christian College
- Procedure changes: exhibitor is responsible for own rocket repair materials (glues, tapes, wadding, engines, scissors, igniters, etc.), commonly used equipment will be sanitized between each use, masks and social distancing is highly encouraged
PRESENTATIONS CONTEST
- Entry forms due: July 17
- Contest: July 24 @ online
- Procedure changes: contest moved to virtual, judging will happen live through Zoom, results will be shared after completion through email
FASHION SHOW
- Entry forms due: July 9
- Show: July 29 @ Sarpy County Fairgrounds, Open Air Building
- Procedure changes: wearing masks and social distancing are highly encouraged, groups will be asked to sit 6ft apart from households, not a public show
TRACTOR DRIVING CONTEST
- Entry forms due: July 24
- Contest: July 31 @ Sarpy County Fairgrounds, North Parking Lot
- Procedure changes: pre-entry required, equipment will be disinfected between each exhibitor use, location will be shared to participants closer to date
