MONDAY 1st MARCH - LABOUR DAY PUBLIC HOLIDAY
TUESDAY 2nd MARCH - PUPIL FREE DAY
Dear Parents & Caregivers,
What a fantastic P&F Family Fun Night we experienced on Friday night! A huge thanks to the P&F Executive Committee on their coordination of the event and a massive thank you to all the parents who volunteered to man a bouncy castle or help out at the sausage sizzle. It was one of the most well-attended Family Fun Night's in recent memory. I particularly enjoyed seeing many of our new families being welcomed to our community.
PUPIL FREE DAY - Tuesday 2nd March
A reminder to families that this weekend is Labour Day long weekend, followed by a pupil free day on Tuesday 2nd March. The staff will be using this day for professional development around learning walks, data walls and revisiting the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data guidelines. Camp Australia is available for those parents wishing to book in for Tuesday. Please see below or visit http://www.campaustralia.com.au
Our new families morning tea was strongly attended last week with over a dozen parents making the most of the opportunity to come along and meet some new faces and hear from our P&F about our community spirit. Thanks to Ms Julie Ford for coordinating and the P&F Exec for attending. This week we welcome some new students to Year 2, Year 3 and Year 5:
2B - Sebastian Hinschen
3B - Audrey Currell
5W - Eddie Malek
We hope they are feeling welcome and have enjoyed a great start at our school!
City of Wanneroo - How to Park (and avoid being fined!)
Below is an attachment for all parents from the City of Wanneroo. I realise parking around any school precinct is a difficult proposition and urge parents to take note of the information contained below. This will avoid parents being fined by the council!
ySafe Cyber Safety Parent Workshop
We are pleased to announce that we are offering a FREE Cyber Safety Parent Workshop for ALL families of SFoA and St Andrew's. Thanks to the efforts of our Digital Learning Team, Mrs Selyer, Mrs McDonald, Mrs Evans and Mrs Fenlon, ySafe will be presenting on Tuesday 9th March @ 6pm in the SFoA hall. Please note, this is a FREE event, but you must confirm your registration online via this link https://bit.ly/sfaprimary
This practical, strategy-rich session will cover the most important points that all families need to know about online safety, covering key information about social media and gaming, screen time recommendations and step-by-step instructions on how to set up a cyber safe home for kids of all ages. If you’ve ever struggled with getting your kids off their games and into bed, worried about the content of the games that they are playing or felt concerned that your child was spending too much time in the digital world, this workshop is for you! We would love to see as many of our parents attend as possible.
2021 Fee Statements & Payment Options Form
These were emailed out (and a paper copy sent home) at the beginning of this week. You will notice that with our new Administration of Schools Finance System in CEWA, every family is asked to indicate how you will be addressing your fees. Parents need to tick the appropriate box and email/send the form back to mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org by COB Friday 26th Feb. If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please contact the email address above to arrange an appointment with me to discuss.
ALL families need to return the payment options form as this enables our School Advisory Council to budget and forecast for our school. Even if you had previously set up a direct debit prior to receiving the form, please still sign and return the form. A reminder that early payment discount applies until 26th Feb to families who are not eligible for a Health Care Card. Those families with HCC, need to ensure the school has an updated copy of your card to ensure the correct fee discount is applied.
For parents who are unaware, Father Dariusz announced a fortnight ago that he will be going on sabbatical from his position as Parish Administrator at St Andrew's Parish, Clarkson. Father Dariusz has been our Parish Priest for the past two years and has been engaging, flexible and very supportive of our whole school community. This Sunday @ 9am will be his farewell mass. On behalf of the children, staff and families at St Francis of Assisi, we wish Father Dariusz God's blessings as he embarks on the next stage of his spiritual journey. Parents and children are encouraged to attend his farewell mass this weekend. Father Darek (the new Parish Priest) will be installed at St Andrew's on Sunday March 7th. We will continue to be supported by Father Marian as well as the new Father Darek.
Traffic Warden Absent
We were advised this morning that one of the two Traffic Wardens who works at the Children’s Crossing on Connolly Drive (near McCormack Boulevard), Butler is unavailable to work from Tuesday, 2 March 2021 to Friday, 12 March 2021 inclusive. Unfortunately, there is no relief staff available to cover the position.
Today, Agnes Dwert celebrated the feast day of St Agnes of Assisi. The children in Agnes had a fantastic time doing some great craft activities as well as visiting Wheelchair for Kids in Wangara to see how agencies support those in need in our community. They returned to pizza and icy poles for lunch. This is the first of the four faction feast days as we build a stronger connection to St Francis of Assisi and educate our children about the importance of service learning. Thank you to Ms Campbell for coordinating and Mrs Bond and Mrs Bowden for attending the day.
With the weekend approaching and some fantastic weather, please stay safe on the roads and enjoy the pupil free day, making it an extra long weekend! We will see families and children next Wednesday 3rd March when the students return.
Be safe and enjoy the long weekend!
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS
Last night it was great to see so many parents and children attend the Reconciliation Parent Workshop. Thank you to Miss Mirto and Mrs McDonald for supporting the Sacrament and presenting the workshop. Parents and children sharing in the Sacrament is a very special time.
Monday 15 March (St Francis of Assisi CPS Hall)
The Reconciliation Retreat will again be run by the 24/7 Youth Ministry. The retreat will take place during normal school hours, in the school hall. Children can wear their sports uniform on this day. Children are to bring their school bag with food for the day as usual, and a drink bottle.

ST AGNES CELEBRATION
Today, we celebrated the feast of St Agnes of Assisi. Although her actual feast day is celebrated in November, today was an opportunity to provide the children an understanding of who she was and how she is connected to Francis of Assisi. The children enjoyed their trip to Wheelchair for kids and the pizza and icy pole was a great way to finish the day after the service learning activity. Hopefully, the children enjoyed the experience and will want to talk about it tonight!
As we approach the second Sunday of lent, we are reminded that as we prepare for the death and resurrection of Jesus, we focus on giving alms, fasting and prayer.
Miss Dee Campbell
