A word from Mr. Sisson
Dear Skyview Families,
As we prepare to wrap up the first quarter I am extremely pleased to see students actively returning to the building for In-Person learning. Although we know that change is inevitable, I believe that students greatly benefit from having access to their learning when they work directly with teachers. I have observed many classrooms throughout the building and I am proud of the work that our team has put into place to support students learning in multiple settings. We continue to monitor spacing and options for increasing student numbers and continue to focus on identified populations that need the highest academic support. We know that this design is not always ideal, but we will continue to build and focus on students' needs.
Moving towards Fall Break, please look for communication from grade level teams for
Parent Teacher Conferences. This year SMS will be providing conferences by appointment only and virtually.
Lastly, heading into the second quarter we will continue to provide In-person and Virtual learning for students. I know that many families are patiently awaiting for us to be able to increase student numbers so we continue to actively monitor the County's numbers and are working with the District to determine when we will be able to increase student numbers.
I hope that everyone has a safe and relaxing Fall Break.
Go Eagles
Matt Sisson

From the Library
Lauren Ward (b. 1970. American singer and actress)
This is especially true during these trying times. Kids need to lose themselves in the stories that they read. Although our library does not work the same right now, during the pandemic, students can still check out books.
The best way for students to check out books is to remotely place a book on hold. Af-ter I pull the book I will either email the student to come and pick it up (eLearners) or the student can come to the library and pick it up (in person learners).
Students must log into the Destiny library catalog using their student number for both the username and password in order to place a book on hold.

From the Health Room
I would like to update you on an issue that has been occurring at Skyview. Students are texting their parents and telling them that they are sick and need to go home. Parents then come to pick up their child and the Health Room never knows that they left. If your child texts you that they are not feeling well, PLEASE direct them to the health room PRIOR to come picking them up. There are a number of reasons why this is important.
First, we can evaluate your child and perhaps we can treat them so that they can stay in school or if we need to. Second, if we evaluate them, we know what brought them into the health room. I check attendance logs and illness logs so I can see if there is an illness coming from a particular
area. This is important because we can deep clean those rooms and I can try to prevent an outbreak. Lastly, it is against our technology policy for
children to text during the school day. We will never deny your child from contacting you and we will do this on behalf of the child
I also monitor children that continue to come to the health room to see if there is an illness pattern. This also may assist the doctor when
treating your child. My goal is always to keep your child healthy and safe and I cannot do this without your cooperation. It is really important to let
us know when your child is ill. With flu season coming and monitoring the Coronavirus per County and State guidelines, we have to have a plan and be able to keep students healthy and safe.

Current CoronaVirus ProceduresÂ
*If your child is ill or becomes ill at school, the health room will be monitoring the signs and symptoms in an attempt to minimize the spread of the illness.
* If you have multiple children and one of their classes becomes quarantined, only that specific child must stay home, as they were the only child directly exposed. Your other children may still attend school.
*I have included information on symptoms, testing, and returning to in-person learning.
At Skyview, our ultimate goal is to keep our children and staff healthy. Your attention to this very serious matter is greatly appreciated!
Please do not let COVID be a reason you do not get your child immunized.
Please consider getting a flu shot for you and your family! We want to try to minimize the number of flu illnesses during this pandemic.
*Exemption forms must be completed annually.
*All incoming 6th grade students must have a Tdap booster per state law.
*If we do not have proof of immunization or a current exemption on file, you will be receiving notification. You have 14 days from the date of notification to provide to your student’s school/child care an up-to-date immunization record,
in-process plan or an exemption.
