STEM NEWS
Fall is here and our first STEM projects are underway here at Bishop! Students are currently building background knowledge towards designing and building their projects to display at Specials Spotlight night in November. Kindergarteners are currently learning about their five senses (seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, and touch) and conducting experiments. First grade students have started learning about squirrels for their project based on the book, Those Darn Squirrels by Adam Rubin. Students in second grade are learning about and making paper gliders. Third graders have been learning about, building, and experimenting with paper tube ramps. Our fourth grade classes have learned about the three main components of beam bridges (columns, abutments, and beams). They have been building and testing them and have even spotted many real life examples in Englewood. The fifth graders are very excited about our upcoming field trip to Broken Tee Golf Course. In preparation, we have been learning about simple machines and growing our own turf in anticipation of building our own Bishop miniature golf course. Finally, Mrs. Wolf’s sixth grade has been learning about and experimenting with solar energy. It’s an exciting and busy time in STEM!

THE SACRED GRACE CHRISTMAS STORE
Believe it or not, the holidays are right around the corner! Thanksgiving, Christmas, Kwanza, Hanukkah, and others will be here before we know it. That means it's time to start preparing for the Bishop/Maddox Christmas Store! Our community partners at The Sacred Grace Englewood have been planning all year for a great store that includes families at both Bishop and Maddox.
Here's how the store works: On Saturday, DEC 14 Maddox ECE will be transformed into a winter wonderland with snacks, decorations, free childcare, and a holiday shopping experience. Parents who register in advance will have the opportunity to purchase gifts that are valued at $25 each for only $5 each! Parents can purchase gifts for all of their children even if they are not enrolled at Bishop or Maddox. There will even be a room for wrapping your gifts before you leave!
Please mark you calendar for Saturday, DEC 14 and register your family HERE.
There will be NO PAPER REGISTRATION THIS YEAR. If you need assistance registering online, someone will be present by the front door to help you at Parent/Teacher Conferences on OCT 9 & 10.
