Principal's Message
"It takes a village" is a phase that we truly embrace at Pacific Trails. When a child is struggling academically or socially, our various teams around campus rally to provide the appropriate support. When one of our own staff is in need, we step up as a family to care for one another. Today, I was so impressed by the tremendous support that our parent community provided for our school-wide "Nacho Party". We truly had a village of parents, some 40-50 volunteers led by PTSA President Amy Wilson, who gave of their time in the middle of the day to help serve nacho chips and ladle cheese and salsa to more than 900 students - all in celebration of our incredibly successful fundraiser at the start of the school year. Not to be lost were the many other parents who lent their crockpots for us to use. It truly was a village of support today, and our students had an absolute blast! Ms. Main, our ASB Director, organized a DJ to play music and lead games at lunch. There were smiling students everywhere and that is our hope - creating environments where students feel safe, connect, learn and have fun. To the village of volunteers today, thank you so much for your time and support. Please know that we will have other opportunities for parent involvement throughout the year if you wish to do so.
I want to also reiterate my message from last week regarding tomorrow's Veterans Day holiday. Thank you to the family members who have served or currently serve in our Armed Forces. I want to express gratitude and appreciation to you for the sacrifices you make so that we may enjoy the freedoms that we have.
Reminder that we do not have school tomorrow, Friday, November 11th, because of Veterans Day. I hope that you have a restful and safe three-day weekend, and we will see your student on Monday.
In gratitude,
Scott Wild
Principal

Counseling Update
Career Exploration begins for our 7th graders! Our counseling team will be introducing Thrively to our 7th grade Wolves on Monday, November 14, through science classes. Seventh grade parents, please click here to learn more about Thrively. In January, we will meet with our 8th grade Wolves to revisit Thrively for more career exploration activities and discuss high school and beyond.
After Fall Break, we will be hosting a number of career speakers who will talk about the jobs they do and how they got there. We will be visited by a Hospital Physician, a Graphic Designer, a Satellite Engineer, a tech research Engineer and a speaker from the corporate business world. Both 7th and 8th grade students will be invited to sign up next week.
This is often the time of year when some students are applying to private schools for the next school year. If your child is applying to a private school, please know that San Dieguito Union High School District school staff do not write letters of recommendation or fill out any type of rating scales for local private schools. All of our local schools are aware of this policy and it will not inhibit admission in any way. All requests for academic records should be sent to Marielle Bravo-Saltzman, our registrar, using the form typically included in admission packets.
Therapy Dogs!
Love on a Leash will be visiting the Wellness Center again on Thursday, November 17, during lunch. Our students always love these visits and enjoy being able to pet the dogs as a way to relax during a busy week!
No Place For Hate
Our NPFH student committee was hard at work this week creating a display of all the signatures they collected for our pledge. The display can be found outside the Wellness Center and was 100% conceived, designed and created by the students. Great teamwork!
