Jesmond Public School
Jesmond Journal Term 4 Week 2, 18th October 2022
Principal's Message
Welcome to Term 4. I am sure our families relaxed and took the opportunity to spend quality time with their friends and loved ones.
This term, many activities have been planned for the next ten weeks. Please check the newsletter fortnightly to ensure you do not miss any important information. Regular updates and reminders will be posted on Seesaw and our Facebook page.
Over the next two weeks Years 3, 4 & 5 will complete Check-In Assessments. The Check-In assessments are online diagnostic assessments in reading and numeracy that assist schools to:
1. supplement existing school practices used to identify how students are performing in reading and numeracy.
2. help teachers tailor learning to meet student needs and support planning.
Year 6
Year 6 have commenced organising their end of year celebration and raising funds to purchase a gift for the school. Mrs Neil and Mr Anlezark would love the involvement of parents/carers to support the Year 6 Farewell. Please contact the school if you are able to help out!
Kindergarten Orientation
Next Monday, approximately 32 children will participate in Kindergarten Orientation for five consecutive weeks from 9:30-10:30am. On Monday 24th October, a number of community agencies will be part of an Expo to connect with families and provide information on how they can support students and families during their primary school years.
Last Day of Term 4 is Friday 16th December 2022
It was announced that students will now finish school on Friday 16 December 2022.
This is due to an additional School Development Day announced for staff across all NSW public schools.
School Development Days allow our staff to participate in professional learning that was put on hold due to COVID-19 staffing pressures and plan ahead for 2023 to ensure we meet the needs of our students.
With this change, we ask that you arrange alternative care for your child on Monday 19th December.
Inclusive Engaging and Respectful Policy
New policies, procedures and frameworks are developed to keep students engaged in learning at school. This term, our staff are participating in professional learning regarding the Inclusive, Engaging and Respectful Policy.
This policy centres on three new policies and procedures and a framework that together set the guidelines for how we ensure all children and young people can learn through public education in a safe and engaging way.
The IER Schools package includes the:
✓ Inclusive Education Policy for students with disability
✓ Student Behaviour Policy and Procedures
✓Restrictive Practices Framework and Restrictive Practices Reduction and Elimination Policy and Procedures.
Have a wonderful week!
