Walnut High School Holds Ring Ceremony for CIF Championship Wrestlers!
Today at lunch, Athletic Director, Jerry Person, held a ring ceremony for our CIF Championship Wrestlers from last season. The rings came in this month and we wanted to honor our student-athletes for this amazing accomplishment.
The wrestlers honored today were:
- Kory Philips (Class of 2019)
- Nayeli Matson (Class of 2020)
- William Von Goeben (Class of 2019)
- Justine Barredo (Class of 2019)
Justine Barredo earned a National Championship last year in Virginia Beach. This wrestling accomplishment was the first time that has ever been done in Walnut's 51-year history. Thank you to our Head Coaches Cecil & Darrell Sebastian.

Senior, Brandon Wong, awarded Eagle Scout Honor
Brandon R. Wong, a senior at WHS, and a member of Boy Scout Troop 777, was awarded the very prestigious Eagle Scout Award on Friday, January 10th for his effort in working with our local animal shelters as well as leading trail cleanups in our community, Nationwide, only about 5% of Scouts earn this award, so Brandon deserves much praise for having achieved such an honor.
CONGRATS SENIOR STUDENT KEN CHENG
Congratulations to Ken Cheng, who was named a top 300 scholar in the Regeneron Science Talent Search.
Chemistry teacher, Mr. Lim, nominated Ken in the most prestigious science & math competitions for high school seniors. Over 1,900 students enter the competition and only 300 across the country are chosen.

Art Competition for the PAC 20th Anniversary!
The Performing Arts Center is turning 20! There will be a gala celebrating 20 years of performing arts at WHS on Friday, April 3 at 7:00 PM. Be sure to save the date.
To celebrate, we are holding an art competition with the theme Celebrating the Arts: Past, Present, and Future. All current students and alumni are encouraged to submit their work.
Practice SAT Test at the Walnut Library!
Walnut Library will have a practice SAT Test and review in February. Any teen that would like to take the practice test should register at the library. The test is free.
