Dr. Theodora Stolz’s Biggest Influence
Dr Theodora Stolz
With all of her success as a mother and psychologist, Dr. Theodora Stolz credits all of her accomplishments to her biggest role model: her father. Her dad was gentle and kind, and was her biggest source of encouragement, as he taught her to be strong and independent just like him. He taught her about politics and baseball, and often took her out to dinner to have close conversations about her life and how to be.
Dr. Theodora Stolz - Greek and Proud
Dr. Theodora Stolz is a successful psychologist based out of the states of New York and New Jersey. These iconic states were among the first in the union. Since those times, these states have been a destination for immigrants through the ages. Stolz herself is of Greek descent and immigrated here as a young orphan. She was adopted by a low-income family who raised her in Brooklyn where she was raised. Knowing she had this Greek heritage she started to get in touch with it as she got older. She discovered things about her heritage through its rich traditions which are readily available in the New York metro area. Dancing, food, and music can be found all around. So it wasn’t difficult for her to find these sources of inspiration and tune into the vibe and culture of her heritage. Greek traditions are proud and enduring such that despite coming home to it later in life, it has been a big part of her life ever since.
Dr. Theodora Stolz Therapy with Animals
Animals are special gifts and Dr. Theodora Stolz is a psychologist that has been using them in therapy for over twenty five years. She knows how valuable animals can be in her therapy sessions and people seek out her services for this very reason. She is resourceful and nothing is off the table in terms of available tools of her therapy sessions. That includes all kinds of animals and the truth of the matter is that they help people relax, they help people express their condition, and they help people tune in to something that is primordial in nature. People and animals have been working together for all of their existence. In the early days, animals were put to use for labor and other such purposes, but at some point they became pets, companions and friends. There is no animal that is off the table. Dr. Theodora Stolz knows that each participant has their own preference for animals they choose. Firsthand, she has witnessed the value of animals in providing therapeutic benefits for people and the addition of quality to their daily lives and overall health. The connection is undeniable and animal therapy utilizes these connections to create a wholesome, conducive environment for effective therapy. Sometimes the therapy is done in a person’s home and she can arrange temporary pets like cats and dogs to help people ride out some of their feelings. It’s amazing how much can change when you introduce an animal to a person’s life. Other times, it’s a trip to the zoo or an outing for a period of time at a farm where people can connect with other animals like horses and chickens.
Dr. Theodora Stolz Helps Compulsive Gamblers
Gambling addiction is a psychological dilemma that Dr. Theodora Stolz knows all too well. As she was finishing up her PhD studies at Hofstra University, she was married to a man who had a dangerous gambling habit, and it was something that affected the lives of both her and her son, Thomas Lynello Dean. After the divorce, Dr. Theodora Stolz decided she needed to use her chosen career path as a way to help others get rid of their gambling habit, so less people like Thomas Lynello Dean and herself would have to suffer the effects of seeing a loved family member gamble away more than their money.
That experience had such an impact on Dr. Theodora Stolz’s life that she decided to write her thesis around gambling addiction. She titled it Cognitive Factors in Pathological Gambling and published it in 1989. Since, it has appeared in studies that include one done at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas that involved the dissatisfaction of customers within the gaming industry.
Since then, Dr. Theodora Stolz got her PhD and was licensed in both New York and New Jersey, where she has helped people with pathological gambling problems. From the casinos of Atlantic City to the underground poker and billiards halls of Brooklyn, she has encountered a variety of gambling types who all practice the same addiction in different ways. It is her mission to help these people so that they and their families can get back to normalcy at home while feeling safe and happy again.

Dr. Theodora Stolz: Spiritual Psychologist
Dr. Theodora Stolz is a licensed psychologist who had maintained a successful practice with great client reviews for over 25 years. Unlike many in her profession, Dr. Theodora Stolz takes a very spiritual approach to psychology, and emphasizes on the importance of spirituality as a conductor of strong mental health. She also believes that psychic ability is real and combined with therapy can enhance people’s lives.
Having no declared affiliation with any particular religion, Dr. Theodora Stolz believes that there is much to gain from every religion; and that her stance as an outsider allows her to pick what she feels are the best qualities of each one, and apply them to her everyday life. She understands that not everyone is as open-minded when it comes to religion as she, and that some hold strong convictions that are congruent with a particular faith. And while that faith can also be used to promote good health, she also says it is important to not let your get in the way of making friends of different religious backgrounds and finding common ground.
Meditation is also a strong spiritual medium that can help those with or without religious affiliations. Mediation puts one in touch with his or her self, and focuses on the personal being without any sort of exterior influences. Reiki healing has become increasingly popular these days, and with good reason. It has been proven to provide results in a majority of cases, for both people who believed in it from the start and those who expressed doubt before trying it. All forms of meditation, however, have shown positive results in several patients. She states when you are alone, meditate. It is when you are with yourself that you have the greatest revelations about life and yourself.

Early Life Challenges - Dr. Theodora Stolz
Living with traditional European parents, Theodora was strongly encouraged to follow a traditional female path, marrying and starting a family. Acquiescing to her parents’ desires, Theodora married early in life, and bore her first son, Thomas. She felt the full weight of responsibility for her son’s future, after her divorce shortly after his birth.
Dr. Theodora Stolz’ love and responsibility in her new role as parent, did not, however, kill her dream of becoming a psychologist. Embarking upon her studies in psychology, Theodora determined to push forward with her learning in human behavior; however, the road was not smooth. Theodora was forced to rely on the help of family and friends in the care of her son, and was often the target of criticism, even accusations of being a ‘bad mother’, due to the long hours of work necessary to press forward to a degree from Marymount Manhattan College on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
Meditation and Relaxation Therapies - Dr. Theodora Stolz
Dr. Stolz is open to the use of relaxation therapies, related in some ways to meditation techniques, but focusing instead on behavioral aspects. Imagery, breathing techniques, and muscle tensing and relaxing may be used. The increased nervous system activity which results from stress, can have a negative impact on disease processes. Dr. Theodora Stolz can modify the uses of meditation and relaxation therapies for the individual patient, in order to focus on techniques which are best suited to the personal concerns being addressed.
Psychotherapy and Psychic Phenomena - Dr. Theodora Stolz
Dr. Stolz also believes in the phenomena of psychic pets, or the ability of animals to discern conditions and emotional states not visible to the naked eye or discernible to humans. The senses of animals have often confounded human explanation, as in stories of animals traveling hundreds of miles to reunite with owners, and dogs which can detect physical diseases and conditions, like cancer, in humans and other organisms. Some dogs have detected low blood sugar, indicating a diabetic condition
Acupuncture is another alternative healing method which has gained a remarkable degree of credibility, whose ability to relieve pain and promote calm is still not completely understood. These and other psychic alternative therapies deserve consideration in Dr. Theodora Stolz’ tool kit of psychotherapy selections. She feels both disciplines can be combined for the betterment of the subject.
