AECC Weekly Update
For Families 1.6.23
What's Happening in Our School and Updates
PLEASE REMEMBER- There is NO SMOKING at any time on our school campus. This includes when waiting in the arrival/dismissal lines.
This week we began our unit about "Dressing for Winter." In the classes, there have been many activities about snow, winter clothing, and why we wear the clothes we wear in the winter. Our classes used a lot of critical thinking skills and made connections to the "why" we do certain things in the winter.
Next week- we will be continuing with "Dressing for Winter." During our social skills time, our children will learn and talk about taking pretzel breaths. Pretzel breaths can be used by wrapping your arms/hand around yourself like a pretzel and taking deep breaths to calm down. We will also be using the book "Words Are Not for Hurting" by Elizabeth Verdick to talk about using kind words with peers, having solid social skills during conversations, and taking turns during an activity. Our math will consist of building patterns, extending patterns, and matching.
Home Connection-
Talk with your child and ask them about the weather and what should be worn. You can ask questions like- should we wear sandals when it snows? Why not? When should we wear a swimsuit? Why? You can also use objects around your home to build patterns and allow your child to manipulate and participate.
After Care is Getting a Cell Phone
If your child attends aftercare, there will be a new number to call. This will be for emergencies, pick-up, etc. The number is 314-779-9419. This will be accessible beginning Monday 1/9.
