North Glendale Family Update

October 17, 2021

Good morning!

Happy Second Quarter!

This week is a busy-in-a-different-way with conferences, report cards and an extra two day weekend for the kids. Enjoy your updates about your NG Superstar ~ teachers are looking forward to bragging about how awesome our kids are doing!

Quick update on VOLUNTEERS! The process has an added component due to a recent change in state law. Add to that the fact that we are out of practice with volunteer requirements due to Covid and there are lots of questions! KSD has created this page to help explain the process and the changes.

Please reach out if I can be of support around this, or any other NG topic!

Halloween Reminder: A Culture Is Not A Costume

Last week the NG Parent Equity Group met and had a great conversation about Halloween costumes and cultural appropriation. There are no easy answers but we felt empowered as a group to do what we can.

Below is the video that started out conversation and an article for additional consideration.

If your child needs a costume please email Mrs. Johnson (K,2,4) or Mr. Leonard (1,3,5)

Report cards will be available to our K-5 parents via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal, beginning October 19. Once you are logged into Infinite Campus, click on the menu bars (top left), then Documents, then the report you want to review.

Please complete this form if you need to create an Infinite Campus parent account or recover your username/password for an existing account. For other questions or issues with Infinite Campus please contact

Calling All Volunteers!

Does your Student Need an Alternative to Halloween at School?

We know that not all families celebrate Halloween and may not want their child dressing up for our parade. We will have an alternate Fall fun activity for kids who would prefer to not be part of the parade. Please email Jennifer if this is the case for your student.

The Sound (Group 1) will rehearse at 8:00 WEDNESDAY morning (first day back from the long weekend)

The Sound (Group 2) will rehearse at 8:00 THURSDAY morning.

Art To Remember

Dear NG Families and Friends,

Your child has been working hard creating awesome artwork at NG.

In the coming days your child will be receiving a personalized order form with the opportunity of purchasing their artwork on a keepsake.

Before the personalized order forms come home, please check out

all the cool items at Instead of pitching your students artwork in a folder to never-be-seen-again, help out NG and consider joining in. If unable to participate, no worries, all artwork will be returned to the students.

Thank you,

Tom Butler

Halloween Parade

In trying to bring back some small slices of normal we will bring back or Halloween parade around the neighborhood of North Glendale! We will march at the end of the school day on 10/29.

More details will be coming but for now as your Superstar contemplates their costume please adhere to our guidelines:

  • Costumes will be BROUGHT to school, not worn.
  • Kids must be able to put on their costume independently, over their street clothes.
  • No weapons, gory items, scary masks etc. A good rule of thumb ~ if you have to ask if it is too scary or gross for our school probably is.

Obviously with our continued safety precautions we will not have visitors in the building for any kind of celebration, but kids will receive a goody bag to go home from our fabulous PTO room parents.

Kids who would prefer an alternate activity will have an opportunity for an alternative celebration during the parade.
