NEWSLETTER | TERM 2 | WEEK 8 | 16 JUNE 2023

Rebecca Clarke | Principal
Dear parents and caregivers,
It is hard to believe that we only have two weeks left of Term Two. I am sure everyone is counting down to the holidays. Staff are busy finalising Mid-Year Reports and I would like to thank them for all the hard work and extra hours they are dedicating to report writing.
This week we celebrated St Anthony of Padua’s Feast Day with the Year Four to Six students joining the students from St Anthony’s for Mass on Tuesday morning. These opportunities to come together with the parish are so important and allows us to continue to build our presence in the wider community.
As part of celebrating the Feast Day of St Anthony of Padua we held our Servite Day on Thursday. The day started with a wonderful Assembly led by our Year Six Servite leaders, Bailee and Ian with Father Peter as special guest. Father Peter is part of the Servite Order and spoke about the fact that the order was founded in 1213 by seven men who devoted themselves to Mary and committed to a life of service. They were known as the ‘Order of Mary’. One of our school values is service and links perfectly to Servite. After the assembly, students took part in service activities around the school and at the parish. On top of that, all students were able to wear blue to school and invited to donate a can of soup to support the St Anthony of Padua Parish and the local St Vinnies Wanneroo as part of the Winter Food Appeal 'Meal in a Can'. Our aim was to donate 180 … last count was 247!! We might be a small school, but we have a huge community heart. Mr Turner, President of St Vinnies Wanneroo was thrilled with our donation and let me know that this will feed about 100 families. Well done to everyone involved in Servite Day, in particular, the Servite staff who organised the day.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind parents and caregivers that if you have any issues or concerns, please make the time to come and speak with your child’s teacher. Best practice for these conversations is usually after school so that the classroom teacher can give you their full attention. If you feel that you cannot speak openly with your classroom, please email your concern to myself or one of my Assistant Principals and we will organise a time to contact you directly. In my experience, most issues can be solved with open, honest communication and best not aired on Facebook or in the school carpark.
A reminder that Term Two will finish on Friday, June 30 with students returning to school for Term Three on Monday, July 17.
Finally, please save the date for the St Anthony of Padua Parish, Wanneroo will be celebrating their 91st Annual Festival and Procession which will be held on Sunday, June 18. St Elizabeth’s community will join with St Anthony’s School and the parish to form a celebratory procession starting at 2pm. It would be lovely to have a large sea of red as a strong representation of our school community in the procession.
Wishing you all a fabulous weekend.
God bless
Rebecca Clarke
Principal

Mid Year Reports
This year CEWA have made some changes to the school reports to align with SCSA requirements. The Semester 1 Report will now be named the Mid-Year Report, showing student progress mid-year against the end of year targets. The Mid-Year Reports will be available to parents on Thursday, 29 June.
Parents will be able to access their child’s report through our Parent SEQTA portal (SEQTA Engage). Those parents who do not have older siblings and who have not previously accessed SEQTA Engage or who are new to the school this year, will receive a ‘Welcome’ email which will give step by step instructions on how to set up your account and login. This email will be sent in the coming week. Please note that this email may end up in your ‘Junk/spam’ folder.
If you have any issues with setting up your Parent Engage account please contact the office.
Sick Students
There has been an increase in students attending school unwell in recent weeks and whilst some are reporting testing positive to COVID, there are also a significant number presenting with other illnesses. It is important that if your child has any symptoms or is feeling unwell, that they stay home, rest and recover. We still have a supply of RAT kits available. If you would like any, please collect these from the office.

Book Club Information
All book club orders need to be finalised by Friday 16th June. We appreciate all scholastic orders as they help our school to earn reward points so that we may purchase additional education resources for our students. A big thank you to those families who have supported us in the past catalogues.
Kind Regards
Mrs Alli Burgess
