Dear Parker Middle School Families,
It was great to see so many families attend our Back to School Night Open House. I loved the energy and excitement and seeing families engaging with each other as we continue to strengthen our community connections and our school to family connections.
Some updates:
Date Change! The PTO’s Parker Family Fun Night will be held on Friday, Sept. 30 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This change has occurred to ensure we have enough daylight for our festivities. Be sure to mark your calendars and join us for a fun night.
Please join me in welcoming our new health teacher, Dr. Beth Williams-Breault. Beth has been a classroom teacher, professor, consultant, program coordinator, and researcher in the field of K-12 student health and wellness. Here is her slideshow reviewing the health curriculum for the year.
Under “Information and Resources for Parents/Families” I have added the 6-Day Rotation Calendar.
Check out the new Twitter handle for Parker @WSParkerMiddle.
Coming Up!
Tonight is the RMHS football game - the home opener on the new turf! I imagine many Parker Middle School students will enjoy this special evening with family and friends. Please remind your children about our core values of kindness, community, and personal best if they choose to attend the game on Friday night. Additionally, the high school recommends that elementary and middle school students be chaperoned by parents or adults. I’m also including some guidelines/expectations sent from RMHS to the high school community -
Reading Memorial High School is pleased to open our renovated stadium this Friday, September 23 with our football home opener. Reading will host Danvers Friday night at 7pm. This school event is geared to be fan friendly for all. All community members are invited to attend this event. We do ask that elementary and middle school students be chaperoned by parents or adults. Please see event guidelines below.
Fans are encouraged to cheer for their team, not against opponent or officials
No silly string, powder, noise makers or signs are allowed
Spectators must remain off the playing area before, during and after the game
No backpacks or large bags will be allowed in the venue
Re-entry into the venue is not allowed
Taunting by players and spectators will not be tolerated
Pre-game Electronic Tickets are available on GoFan.co
Day of game cash tickets will be available at the ticket both prior to the game
Student Activities
The following information will also be shared with students:
Affinity Group
The Parker BIPOC Affinity Group will begin meeting again on Thursdays during Advisory. Mr. Canzater will be present to help facilitate. Students who plan to attend should report to the cafeteria after they check-in at their homeroom.
Science Olympiad
Do you love science and want to learn more? Science Olympiad is a great opportunity for students to dive deeper into various areas of science. In preparation for the statewide Science Olympiad competition in early March, students will prepare for and participate in one or more events - either building, laboratory, or knowledge based. The group meets on Monday afternoon from 2:35 - 3:30. Students should plan to do work on their projects at home during the week as well and check in with the group during meetings. There is a $90 fee that covers registration and materials.
Ms. Rubino wants to hear from you. Come join the Principal’s Student Council. Please join me after school on Wednesday, Sept. 28 in the cafeteria. All are welcome and no signups are needed. We will rotate the day of this monthly meeting in case you have conflicts on Wednesday afternoons and we will talk about whether we should meet twice per month.

Kindness Kits
The Pine Street Inn in Boston’s South End neighborhood serves more than 1,900 individuals daily and assists homeless individuals in areas including street outreach, prepared meals, housing, medical care, and job training. Once again, we at Parker are gathering items for the residents at the Pine Street Inn by creating “Kindness Kits” that include donations from all of you to individuals in need. On the morning of October 6, our eighth graders will pack the goods with the donations that have been collected during our drive here at school.
We can’t thank you enough for your donations and support. We will continue to collect until October 5.
Please make sure items are travel sized or small. Items Include:
6th Grade Teams: Health related donations including band aids, first aid kits, sunscreen, wet wipes/tissue packs, deodorant, chapstick, disposable razors, shaving cream, baby powder
