Providing every student with the keys to open the doors of their future.
A Note from Principal Purfurst
I hope you all had a restful and happy Thanksgiving! The staff at Padilla have missed your children over this break and are excited to welcome them back to school tomorrow!
An Update from Dean Hawkins
Evacuation Drill #4 11/18
We successfully conducted our fourth Evacuation Drill of the year on the Thursday before Thanksgiving break (adjusted the date because we had some adult absences that affected our ability to conduct the drill effectively). The drill was our best to date as we successfully evacuated the building in just over two minutes with all students and staff accounted for in just over seven minutes. Our staff continues to do a great job ensuring the safety of our students as they are always prepared and they help our students to take this drill seriously every single time!
Student Morning Drop Off:
As our seasons change and the temperatures drop, we want to remind all of our families that we are unable to allow students into the building until our soft start which begins at 7:35. We do not have staff available for coverage until this time in order to allow students into the building. At 7:35 students are welcomed into the building in order to head to class or to the cafeteria to pick up breakfast and then to class. We encourage families to not drop their students off until 7:30 at the earliest on these cold and stormy weather days. During the day, students will always go outside during their recess times unless the temperature is below 20 degrees. This temperature also includes the “Feels Like” temperature. If it feels like a temp below 20 degrees, students will remain inside during their recesses. Thank you for your help and understanding. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns about this policy.

Adult Learning
This week teachers engaged in our final round of Learning Walks for the first semester. I am so proud of each and every one of our teachers for their willingness, vulnerability, and courage for opening the doors to their classrooms in order to deprivatize our practice. I am so thankful for a staff that is embracing a learning stance and willing to take risks to be the very best they can be for our Padilla Polar Bears. Our students deserve nothing less than the best!
