Human Rights Day
December 10th is Human Rights Day. On this day in 1950 all states and interested organizations were invited by the United Nations General Assembly to observe this day as it marks the anniversary of the Assembly’s adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.
We have an Amnesty International Club at Rogers. This club is part of an organization of clubs all over the world. We work toward the common mission of Amnesty International: "We work to protect people wherever justice, freedom, truth, and dignity are denied." We focus on Human Rights.
GSL Passes
The Greater Spokane League charges for all football, volleyball, soccer, basketball, and wrestling regular season and for all postseason contests. A GSL pass is your best value if you plan on attending games across multiple seasons. The GSL pass works at all regular season events at any of the 2A/3A/4A Greater Spokane League schools. Discount passes are available in the Rogers Business Office for any family that qualifies for Free/Reduced Lunch at a rate of $15. The rate for entry to any football, volleyball, soccer, basketball, or wrestling event is $5 for students or $10 for adults. This year we will accept cash or credit for entry. You may view our team schedules by visiting: https://www.arbiterlive.com/Teams?entityId=11387. We would love to see the Rogers community at all our events to celebrate what our student-athletes and coaches are doing.
Late Start Mondays
REMINDER: This year, SPS students* will begin their school day 1 hour later every Monday on the following start schedule:
• High Schools and Libby Center: 9 a.m.
• Middle Schools: 10 a.m.
• Elementary Schools: 9:30 a.m.
*NEWTech Prep and TEC at Bryant students will attend on a regular schedule.
Breakfast will be available 30 minutes prior to Monday’s start time. Yellow buses will pick up students 1 hour later. Spokane Transit bus riders, visit spokanetransit.com/spsconnect for routes and timetables.
The weekly late start is part of a new 3-year collective bargaining agreement that allows teachers time to work with colleagues around student learning and supports. Providing structured time within the workday for teachers and other certificated staff to collaborate is an educational best practice consistent with other area school districts. Having a late start Monday consistently scheduled every week allows families to plan for the whole school year. Visit spokaneschools.org/calendar for a full calendar.
