New Door Signs
School safety is paramount to providing an environment for students to learn and staff to teach. In a continual effort to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors, Buffett will be making adjustments to visitors entering our building.
All visitors will be asked to state their name, their student’s name, relationship to student, and the purpose of the visit. Once all information is provided, then visitors will be buzzed into the building to sign in using our Envoy sign-in electronic system by the security podium.
Thank you for supporting Buffett as we work to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for all.

Shakespeare Coming To Buffett
The Buffett Drama Department is excited to host Nebraska Shakespeare as they present,
A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
The On Tour program takes Shakespeare's plays and adapts them into 75-minute productions to fit perfectly into a school-day schedule. Each professionally acted and designed performance concludes with a post-show discussion with the company to allow further critical thinking about Shakespeare and his works. This experience is an accessible, exciting, and thought-provoking theatrical event that any middle school student will enjoy regardless of previous experience with theater or Shakespeare.
This performance will be on Monday, October 15th, in the Buffett Cafeteria. It will begin at 3:10pm and finish at 4:45pm. There is no cost. Seating is limited to the first 100 students to sign up, so please do not wait until the last minute. Sign up today!

Attention 8th graders - Oct 30th deadline!
Message from Nurse Boyer
Hello 7th grade parents,
The state of Nebraska requires that students entering into 7th grade receive the Tdap (tetanus and whooping cough) vaccination prior to entrance into school. After September 11th students can be excluded from school unless this is received per the state of Nebraska guidelines. Please provide immunization information to the nurse's office immediately or these students are likely to be excluded from attending school. Parent portal has been updated with all immunizations that have been turned it, this is an easy way to double check your student's compliance. I enjoy seeing our Bobcats every day so please get these in as soon as possible. As always, it is an absolute pleasure to care for all our Bobcats!
MTSSB: Voice Level
Knowing the right voice level for the situation is an important skill. We use a scale 0-4
In the cafe', students are expected to keep their voices at a whisper (1) to a table talk level (2).
The gym, of course, may be louder from table talk level (2) to outside level (4).
The classroom can range from 0-3 silent to presenter depending on the activity.
The library and hallway should be a 0-2 silent to table talk level.
Voice level expectations are reviewed by staff frequently. You can help by reminding your students about appropriate voice levels in different situations.
Academic Enrichment Opportunities
Academic Pentathlon (6th-8th): Academic Pentathlon was created to provide opportunities for students to experience the challenges of a rigorous team and individual competition in five events: Language and Literature, Mathematics, Music, Science and Social Science. The 2018-19 Pentathlon theme is the 1960's.
Poetry Slam (6th-8th): A poetry slam is a workshop (fall) and competition (spring) at which poets read or recite original work. It puts equal emphasis on writing and performance and encourages poets to focus on what they say and how they say it.
Any 6th-8th grade student interested in the above opportunities, is encouraged to get more information from Mrs. Meg Thompson, G.A.T.E. Facilitator. Room C205 or megan.thompson@ops.org
