A Peek into our week
Thanks to everyone who was able to come and help support our Math Night. What a fun event!
The Book Fair is always lots of fun as well. A big thank you for all the books that were purchased for our classroom library!
Please be sure to read the Upcoming Dates for the many ways we plan on celebrating Read-Me/ Dr. Seuss's Birthday. Would you like to be a guest reader for us on Thursday? If so, please let me know!
Homework- If your child receives a 100 on their Spelling Test, they do NOT have to turn in any Spelling Homework the following week. I will still send home Math Homework sheets some weeks, but I also want to encourage Prodigy. It is a fun way to really work on their Math skills. I don't want them spending a lot of time with Homework, especially with Spring right around the corner (or maybe it is already here). I do really want them READING and practicing MATH SKILLS. I promise this time really pays off.
I think we are all up and running on Prodigy. Yay!!!!
ELA- We read my favorite Book Talk book this week called Tornado. It is such a great book and I think they all really enjoyed it too! I love reading their Book Talk Journals and have started taking a grade on them. I can really see growth in their writing skills. We reviewed Conjunctions (with the help of School House Rock!) and our phonics skill was finding the long a and long e sounds in words. I keep reminding them that Phonics can be very tricky. It's what what the letters "look" like, but what they "sound" like. We worked on paragraph writing to go along with a wonderful Art project they are working on. We use our keyboarding skills in computer to publish these paragraphs.
Bible - We are working on our Chapel Devo. This is scheduled for next Tuesday. There is a chance our date may change due to Dr. Seuss week. I will let you all know ASAP. You are all welcome to join us. It will be short and sweet, but they are very excited about it!
Math - Telling time with Hula Hoops is so much fun! They are really doing great identifying the time on the clocks and as always, I encourage you to challenge and review this with them at home.
