First Day of School is August 12th
Corsicana Independent School District
From the Desk of Dr. Frost
Wow! It's my favorite time of the year - Back-to-School week. It's hard to believe that we will be opening our doors for the 2021-2022 school year on Thursday, August 12. We have been looking forward to being together again and seeing the smiling faces of all our staff and students. Although summer break never quite feels long enough, I hope you got the chance to rest and rejuvenate as you enjoyed spending time with your children.
During June and July, we were busy planning and preparing the buildings for the return of all students for in-person instruction. While there are still a few COVID-19 safety protocols in place, masks will be optional for the 2021-2022 school year.
We continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 caseload, especially as it pertains to the new Delta variant. Thankfully, we have many employees who took advantage of getting the vaccine to help stop the spread of the virus. In addition, all Tiger families will be receiving a communication about a vaccine opportunity for students ages 12-18 on August 20. This should go a long way in helping protect our staff and students.
We take the safety of each staff member and student seriously and will continue to be flexible and make any adjustments as necessary this year to protect our Tigers. When you get a chance, visit the link to our safety protocols provided in this newsletter. Because of the rise in Delta variant cases across the nation, we encourage everyone who is eligible to please get vaccinated.
I love the excitement the Back-to-School season brings to our district and cannot wait for the return of our students on the first day of class. Our teachers, administrators and support staff have been participating in campus and district professional development activities designed to provide an engaging learning experience for your child. This week is full of Meet the Teacher events and times set aside for our secondary students to pick up their schedules. You'll find more about these key dates in the newsletter and on our Back-to-School webpage.
Our 2021-2022 hashtag is #TigersTogether. We are asking all our families to share their first day of school pictures by using this hashtag on social media. Be patient with one another these first couple of weeks as we manage extra traffic and stabilize all the individual bus route schedules. Our staff will be ready to help you with any of your Back-to-School questions or concerns.
I want to also extend an invitation for all our families to Meet the Tigers at our community-wide pep rally at 7:30 p.m. Friday, August 13 at CNBT Stadium at Tiger Field. This is a great time for your kids to catch the Tiger spirit and meet some of their favorite student athletes and support groups.
It's an important time for public schools as we work to regain a sense of normalcy for our students. The communication between parent and teacher is extremely important as we partner together to help students succeed. I am filled with hope and anticipation that 2021-2022 will be our best year yet. One thing is for sure, we will face the challenges and celebrations of this school year the way we always have, together.

Masks Remain Optional But Are Encouraged
CISD will continue to conduct health screening for visitors to our campuses. If your child is experiencing symptoms, please keep your child at home until symptoms subside. Students will be encouraged to wash hands frequently, practice effective sneeze and cough etiquette and use hand sanitizer when soap and water are not readily available. Social distancing will be conducted when at all possible.
Our school nurses continue to monitor the health and well-being of our students and staff and will notify families of a positive case at each campus. Questions may be directed to your local physician or to a school nurse.
