Career Outreach Seminars: In partnership with Parent Council, CB West is excited to announce that current students will be given the opportunity to hear from professionals across a wide spectrum of occupations such as: Engineer, Information Technology Director, Law Enforcement, Director of Clinical Pharmacology, President of Marketing and many more. These seminars will be held at West, be 45 minutes in length and occur during the morning from March 20 – 23. Students can sign up for two sessions through Naviance.
AP Exam Registration: Students may register for AP Exams now through Friday, March 17th. Please visit www.MyPaymentsPlus.com, where you will be able to view all available exams and registration dates, and make AP Exam payments for all students in the same household in one transaction.
- New this year – PRE-ADMINISTRATION. Every student who registers for an AP Exam this year will participate in a Pre-Administration Session on Wednesday, April 19th during an Extended Advisory. During this session, all students will “bubble in” demographic information required of all test-takers. Doing this prior to the students’ first AP tests this year will reduce the amount of time students must spend in the testing room, and hopefully will alleviate unnecessary stress. Attendance at the Pre-Administration Session is mandatory for all test-takers.
CB College Fair: The College Fair will take place on Wednesday, March 22nd at 6:30 pm at CB South (1100 Folly Road, Warrington). Admission representatives from over 120 colleges, universities, trade schools, and military organizations will be in attendance. This is a great opportunity to learn about colleges and their programs, majors, student life, and financial aid. Juniors are highly encouraged to attend!
HANG UP AND DRIVE ASSEMBLY
On Monday, March 27, Juniors and Seniors will participate in the “Hang Up and Drive” assembly. The purpose of the assembly is to raise awareness about the issue of distracted driving. In addition to addressing texting and driving, the assembly is directly related to good decision making, personal responsibility, and concern for others. This assembly is funded through a CB Cares grant. In addition to the assembly, students will engage in small group discussions about the topic in their advisory classes.

D.A.V.E Assembly
CB West welcomed District Attorney Matthew Weintraub and the founders of D.A.V.E. (Drug Addiction oVerdose Education) to an assembly for Sophomores on March 8th. This presentation launched a three-year program, developed by the guidance department along with students in the Intervention Club, to educate students about the opioid crisis, the physiology of addiction, the impact of addiction on youth and their families, and the tools and resources available to combat this disease.
Cathy Messina, founder of D.A.V.E. and pictured at right, lost her son David to heroin addiction. She told her son’s story to CBW Sophomores, and stressed how important it is for students to tell a trusted adult that they, or someone they love, may be struggling with addiction. There is help, and there is hope – and it is essential that students and families learn the signs of addiction, and what resources are available to help, so that we can eradicate addiction in our communities.

Based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film directed by Tim Burton, BIG FISH centers on Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest… and then some! Edward’s incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him – most of all, his devoted wife Sandra. But their son Will, about to have a child of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales.
These hardworking talented high school actors from CB West High School are very compelling on stage. Big Fish is definitely a big catch for the Harlequin Club. Leading the cast proudly under the musical direction of Dr. Joseph Ohrt and Director/Choreographer Jessica Bostock are:
Edward Bloom played by Gianni Recupero, Sandra Bloom played by Taylor Mitchel, The Witch played by Angela Gibbons, Dr. Bennett played by Will Fredendall, Don Price played by Patrick Morgan, Jenny Hill played by Natalie Kim, Alabama Lambs played by Eva Martinez, Emma Gogol, Mollie Schumaker and Liza Lemus, Will Bloom played by Connor Hopkins, Josephine Bloom played by Kaitlyn Benson, Amos Lee played by Evan Byrne, Karl the Giant played by Nick Ferrara, Zacky Price played by Jacob Janik, Young Will is played by Jacob Klein from Titus Elementary School and the Mermaid played by Emilie Ahr.
This newer contemporary musical is overflowing with heart, humor, and spectacular stagecraft, BIG FISH is an extraordinary musical that reminds us why we love going to the theatre – for an experience that’s richer, funnier and BIGGER than life itself.
