Summit SPARKS News
APRIL 2019
Principal's Corner
Dear Summit Road STEM Families,
It's hard to believe we have less than two months left in the school year. As you can see in this newsletter, there are many special events and activities planned for students and families. Much of our end-of-year assessments will occur in April. Please note these important dates for Ohio's State Test in English Language Arts and Math for our 3rd and 4th grade students (all testing will start at approximately 8:30 am):
English Language Arts
4th Grade - Part 1 - April 8
4th Grade - Part 2 - April 9
3rd Grade - Part 1 - April 10
3rd Grade - Part 2 - April 11
Mathematics
4th Grade - Part 1 - April 23
4th Grade - Part 2 - April 24
3rd Grade - Part 1 - April 25
3rd Grade - Part 2 - April 26
Throughout the month, students will also be completing i-Ready diagnostic tests and a few other end-of year assessments. Please look for information from your student's teacher on specific days. You can help reduce stress for your student with these few tips:
- Arrive to school on time on testing days.
- If possible, avoid appointments when testing is scheduled. Check with your student's teacher if you are unsure about testing days and times.
- Get a good night of sleep before any tests.
- Have your student eat breakfast or a snack before testing starts.
Thank you for all of your support and helping to make the Summit Road community great! We hope you can join us for our annual STEM Night on April 17th!
Mr. Menhorn
