All Things SLI
Silver Lake Intermediate Jan. 15, 2021
SLI Families:
Next week there is no school on Jan. 18 & 19 for teacher professional development. We are looking forward to working with a professional development consultant from Character Strong, our new social-emotional curriculum.
Our students will now be coming to school in-person five days a week beginning Wednesday, January 20. Included in this newsletter is the family communication sent to families earlier this week via email.
On Wednesday, January 20, we will be implementing updated drop off and pick up procedures. Please see the information included in this newsletter.
Please be on the lookout for information about selecting elective course for next school year that will be sent out next week. Online course selection will be from Jan. 20 - Feb. 5.
Also be on the lookout for information about our optional Parent/Teacher Conferences on Feb. 11. Teachers will be reaching out if they would like to have a conference with you, but they will also invite any families to request one as well.
Lastly, we are excited to virtually welcome our incoming 5th grade families for the 2021-2022 school year. If you know any fourth grade families please share the information included in this Smore newsletter.
Have a great weekend!

USDA EXTENDS FREE MEAL PROGRAM
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service has again extended the free student meals program, providing a free breakfast and lunch option for students until June 30, 2021, or until the USDA confirms that funding is no longer available, whichever comes first. As a result, student breakfast and lunch will be free on the days that students are learning at school face-to-face, and the days that students are learning virtually.
Full Face to Face January Family Communication
What does my child do if they are in quarantine or isolation?
Even though we are back full face to face five days a week, students in quarantine are expected to Zoom into the class here at school.
If your child is ill and is unable to participate in the virtual schedule (i.e. attend Zoom meeting with the in person class), please email your child's teachers so they are aware and can work with individual families/students.
What if my child has technical issues at home?
Students and families who need technical support can submit a ticket using the form on their student bookmarks, or available here. In addition, support from our Technology Help Desk is available during the school day by calling 262-560-2126 or emailing helpdesk@oasd.org. For those who do not have reliable internet access at home, please contact our help desk to request a hotspot. The OASD Technology Website has additional information on remote learning and technology resources.

The Character Strong curriculum is built around the “Eight Essential” character traits and social emotional skills that have been proven to help us be productive, empathetic, successful people. We will be working together to build a kinder school culture and, ultimately, a kinder world. We are so excited to dive into this resource with our students and staff, and with families as well!
