Willow Center
New Volunteer Recruitment
Volunteer Opportunities
The Willow Center for Grieving Children is having informational meetings about upcoming trainings for all potential new volunteers. Two kinds of volunteer opportunities are available: volunteer facilitators at group sessions, and volunteers to work at Camp Erin - a weekend summer bereavement camp for kids. Attending an informational meeting does not automatically commit one to volunteer, instead it provides information and answers questions. Trainings dates will be determined at each informational meeting. Attendees are encouraged to bring their calendars!
Palouse Meeting:
Wednesday, January 28th, 7:00 P.M.
Community Congregational UCC, 525 Campus Street, Pullman
LC Valley Meeting:
Thursday, January 29th, 7:00 P.M.
Willow Center Office, 0309 2nd Street, Lewiston
Training for volunteer group facilitators involves 23 hours, and candidates are asked to commit to one year of working with the groups. Training and pre/post camp meetings for this year’s summer camp are approximately 23 hours and require a commitment to be available for camp July 17 - 19, 2015. Components of training involve awareness of the following: grief reactions in children, teens and adults; Willow Center model and group facilitation; companioning others through grief. No experience is required, just a heart for the mission of the Willow Center!
