Work-At-Home Schemes
How To Recognize Them
What it is: Offers for working at home that usually offer large amounts of money in an impossibly short time. Consequences of accepting a work-at-home job scheme can include loss of money, loss of a legit job (if the person quit their original job thinking the hoax was real), and trouble with the law; the victim is not committing criminal acts, but will be legally responsible for the actions of the company/scammer.
Examples: Digital or physical ads offering work-at-home jobs
How to prevent getting scammed by these: Common sense. Look into the company before signing up or accepting the offer, consult the Better Business Bureau and ask yourself if the offer is too good to be true.
