Lesson Planning...Prompts to Consider
1. Have I first identified the standard(s) that I will teach today
2. Am I aligned to:
-the rigor of the standard
-the district YAG (now available in all 4 core contents)
-my grade level colleague
-our next benchmark assessment
3. Am I using student data to inform my next instructional moves?
4. Is the day’s Learning Target and Success Criteria aligned to the rigor of the standard and using the language of the standard when possible?
5. Is my “I DO” as the teacher...
-scripted as a core part of the lesson (including questions)
-taking into account the middle school brain (10-2-2)
-captured by the student in their INB (right side)
6. Are the day’s Student Learning Tasks:
-designed to facilitate student learning to the rigor of the standard
by using DOK Level 3 & 4 when appropriate
- including H.I.P.S. (grounded in WICOR)
-designed to scaffold student learning as needed
7. Does my Out provide each student the opportunity to provide
evidence of their learning (to the rigor of today’s standard)?
8. Has my administrator or coach provided feedback in my plans and
have I applied that feedback in this week’s plans?
9. How will I monitor student understanding during my lesson?
10. Is this an appropriate amount of time to spend on this skill/learning
target?
In order to support the work of our 90 day plan, please be sure your complete plans are submitted via Planbook by 8:30am the Thursday prior to teaching.
