Principal's Message
Hello Ride Families,
All families should have received an email from Conroe ISD on July 14th. The District email contains a link to submit your child's enrollment information and also lets us know whether your child will remain virtual or attend school in-person starting on September 8th. All students will be virtual from August 12th - September 4th.
We are so excited to welcome our returning and new Challengers in just a few short weeks! You will receive an email from Ride the week of August 3rd notifying you of your child's teacher. Our Meet-the-Teacher will be virtual on August 10th and the first day of school for all students is August 12th.
Please continue to check the District's Roadmap to Reopening web page for updated information. I have also linked Dr. Null's July 23 YouTube live update video below this message.
As we continue to work to solidify plans for the 2020-2021 school year, I want to share additional information with you that is specific to Ride. I'll provide weekly updates in the Blast going forward.
School Supplies
We will be working with Ride PTO to distribute pre-ordered school supplies. We want families who need access to supplies before we return to in-person and virtual learning to have them. More detailed information should be available in next week's Blast.
Technology Checkout
We are also working on a process for checking out technology equipment for students who need it for online learning. There is a "Technology Needs Survey" below. Please submit the survey by next Monday, August 3rd.
We will schedule a one time pick up for all of your needs; school supplies, materials needed for the week of instruction and devices. More information coming next week.
Wearing Masks
Staff at Ride will wear face masks and/or face shields this year. CISD has determined that 3rd grade and older are required to wear masks at school and Prk- 2nd grade are strongly encouraged to wear masks. Whether masks are required or not, wearing a mask protects your child's ability to come to school. Based on rules from the Texas Education Agency (TEA), masks are an essential piece of determining if people are in close contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19. Students and staff who are wearing masks are less likely to be required to leave school or quarantined. Wearing a mask protects our ability to work and to attend school.
Registration
We are currently registering students for the 2020-2021 school year. Information is available on the Conroe ISD web site (www.conroeisd.net) and further down in this newsletter. You can also email our Registrar, Mrs. Jaimes, at ljaimes@conroeisd.net for additional information. Please share registration information with you friends who have pre-kindergarten and kindergarten age children if they do not receive the Blast.
Food Distribution
Conroe ISD continues curb side food distribution in July. Beginning in August, distribution will be available at all campuses in the district. More information will be forthcoming about changes to curbside food distribution provided by the District.
Please know that the entire Ride staff is here for our community and our
Challengers. We continue to work to design a loving, safe and high quality experience for our students—both online and in-person. Thank you for many words of encouragement for the Ride staff. We are here to serve you, and it is my honor to be part of this school. We miss our Challengers and cannot wait to see them on August 12 (virtually) ... and again September 8.
For questions, please call the front office at 281-465-2800. We appreciate your support and we look forward to serving you and your students this school year!
Megan Burnham, Principal
