Principal Message
Greetings, Ride Families!
We enjoyed Go Texan Day today at Ride! The kids and staff dressed in their best western wear and many teachers had special activities to support Go Texan Day in their classrooms. PE taught some western dance (moves) and a couple of fun western themed games! The Houston Livestock and Rodeo is a great family friendly event. I hope you get the opportunity to go and experience the largest rodeo in the United States! Mr. Cummings and the PTO hospitality committee provided some of the best homemade smoked pulled pork ever!! Thank you for sharing your incredible cooking (BBQ) talents with us. The teachers and staff were so grateful and very appreciative to have such a wonderful meal.
Next week is Dr. Seuss week! We are having a school wide celebration of his influence with reading. Dr. Seuss’s birthday is March 2nd and it is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually. At Ride, we love an opportunity to celebrate reading. March the 2nd is also the date of the 2nd grade program called, “Storybook”. It is about some of our favorite books. Program starts at 6:00pm.
You can tell we are entering the Spring season at elementary! Many fun activities are coming up, including, field trips, grade level programs and Spring Break! Testing season is fast approaching for our older students in 3rd and 4th grade. This is a very important time of the year – my favorite learning point is that there is a time for fun and a time to focus on learning.
Have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Megan Burnham

Ride Through The Decades
The 2023 Ride through the Decades Spring Carnival planning committee is looking for silent auction items. If you own a business and would like to donate we would love to help promote your business. 100% of the funds raised through the silent auction go directly to the PTO, which then go directly into the school.
PTO funds various school functions including field trips, math and reading tutoring, teacher support, professional development, substitute pay, computer programs/licenses, technology, reading incentive programs, playground equipment and repairs, copy paper, school beautification and so much more. All funds the PTO raises goes towards enhancing each child's education at Sally K. Ride.

Lunch Sign-Up
Due to limited seating in the cafeteria, we are offering two options for lunch signups. You will have the opportunity to sign up to eat in the cafeteria with your child or outside in our gazebo/picnic table area. You will not be able to change locations after signup is complete. If you sign up to eat outside and it rains, you will be unable to move into the building due to limited seating. You may sign up for another day/time.
Each slot is available for two adults and the child you are eating lunch with..
Please see the schedule below for designated grade level lunch visitor’s days. Make sure that you sign up under the correct time slot for your child’s lunchtime. Each student may have a lunch visitor once every 3.5-week period. This ensures every parent has an opportunity to sign up. Remember to bring a valid id when you visit the building.
Due to limited seating in the cafeteria, we are asking all parents with small children to eat outside in the gazebo area.
