Using Science Vocabulary through Kahoot & Plickers
Wednesday, October 18, 4:30-6:30pm
Clinton ES, 10 Clinton Heights Ave., 43202
Games are a great way for students to learn vocabulary from any content. Come to this PD to try 2 student response systems; Plickers and Kahoot It!
Plickers is an interactive response system and only the teacher needs 1 wireless device (cell phone, tablet, or iPad), but the students use Plickers paper QR Codes.
Kahoot It is an interactive question and answer system that can be used with Chromebooks, iPads, desktops, or laptops. It is very easy to set up and implement in the classroom. Melissa Taylor from Clinton Elementary will share her science vocabulary Kahoot It games and you will have an opportunity to set up your own accounts and start creating educational games your students will love.

BOOKFLIX for PreK-3 TEACHERS (really it works for 4-5 too)
BookFlix covers science and social studies topics.
Scholastic BookFlix is an online literacy resource designed for grades PreK-3, but I bet you could use it with some of your 4th & 5th graders too.
It pairs classic Weston Woods video storybook titles with related nonfiction titles from Children’s Press and other Scholastic imprints.
- Creates a love of reading with favorite fiction and high-quality nonfiction titles.
- Engages children with the “Watch the Story” feature, highlighting each word on the screen as it is narrated in the video. This helps reinforce reading skills, including fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
- Allows children to read the nonfiction e-books independently or to follow along with highlighted words as the narrator reads to them.
- Introduces children to real-world facts and helps them build content-area knowledge.
- Features additional activities and resources that are informative and fun.
- Allows children and their families to log on anytime, anywhere with an Internet connection.
To enter the resource, start from the INFOhio home page at http://www.infohio.org Click Grades PreK-5
Click the BookFlix icon
If at home enter the Disctict information - username- ccs and password-ccs
If you are using a CCS computer you will be automatically logged into INFOhio.
