8th Grade Transition to High School

Information on preparing for high school

Building the Bridge

Thank you to everyone who came to the 8th grade student and family night meeting at CWMS on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. If you were unable to make the meeting, don't worry. We have done our best to compile all of the information that was available that night into this newsletter. This information is to begin building the bridge between the middle school and high school for you and your student.

CWMS students have 3 different opportunities when it comes to their high school career.

  1. Traditional high school at WCHS.
  2. Apply to the AP Academy at WCHS.
  3. Apply to the Wilkes Early College High School.

Students can apply to both the AP Academy and Wilkes Early College High School. If accepted at both, you and your student will then need to make a decision about which program is best for them.

As you will see below, you will have other opportunities to participate in upcoming meetings to be held at the individual high schools. These meetings will go into more details about the choices that your student has for their high school journey.

You can do this through the Remind App on your smartphone. Use the code @dubc2026 on the app to join the class. To receive text messages, use the picture below and follow the instructions.
