York County 4-H Round Up Horse Show

Saturday, July 29th, 9am

York County 4H Center

Please come to cheer on Morgan and Hailey. They will be exhibiting their horses in the first ever cloverbud exhibition classes. We also need lots of help in the office, with the gate, and handing out ribbons.

4-H Fair

Saturday, Aug. 12th, 1-2pm

771 Stoverstown Road

York, PA

Once again this year we will be providing the opportunity for kids to paint plastic horses at the 4-H fair. We will be in a tent like last year from 1:00-2:00 on August 12th (Saturday of the fair). Please let me know if you are able to help us at this time.

York Fair Horse Demonstration

Sunday, Sep. 10th, 6pm

400 Carlisle Avenue

York, PA

Once again this year we will need 3 horses to come to the York Fair for the day. We ask that all horses arrive before the fair opens and stay until after our club demonstration at 6:00 pm. All horses must have a current copy of their rabies and coggins. They should be able to handle the fair atmosphere which includes lots of people, cows, pigs, goats, and strollers. We will bring the horses out into the ring and I thought we could demonstrate how to groom a horse since that is a pretty easy task. When cloverbud members are handling a horse at the fair they must have a helmet on. If you would like to allow people to pet your horse we ask that you use the plywood to put in front of the stall door to protect anyone from being stepped on. Please let me know if you are able to bring a horse for the day. All cloverbud members that are bringing a horse will get a fair ticket and parking pass.

Safety Equipment

Cloverbuds must wear ASTM/SEI- approved helmets designed for equestrian activity and appropriate clothing and footwear for all 4-H experiences involving horses or ponies. For mounted activities, youth must wear long pants and sturdy boots or shoes that have a definite heel as viewed from the side. For unmounted activities (simple ground handling, grooming, etc.), youth must wear sturdy shoes or boots with closed toes. Cloverbud youth are required to wear helmets at all times around horses or ponies, whether mounted or on the ground.
