Reminders
WOW - what a day! THANK YOU for your flexibility and fun attitude! Doss has never had so many PTA members! What a great testament to the partnership of our school and our parents.
If you have scheduled conferences with parents of your 504 students, please check with Shanna (K-2) and Alicia (3-5) to determine if a 504 meeting could take place at the same time.
Conferences need to be held for all GT students.
We have two author visits this week-Phil Bidner and Abby Hanlon. See the schedule below for details.
Staff Flu Shots are on Wednesday 21st in the lounge starting after dismissal.
The first leadership meeting is on Monday, 19th in the library at 3:15.
On Thursday 22nd, I will be inviting the Doss Dads to the cafeteria for coffee and conversation and to Kick Off our Doss Dads committee!
The CATCH Committee will have a brief planning after school on Friday the 23rd to organize for Marathon kids!!
The PTA is putting together a "bike safety" week for next week (26th - 30th). Details will be available as soon as I get them.
We did not complete the FLU SHOT clinic. We are working with the health team to determine what the next steps are. Once that is determined, we will communicate to you and to the parents.
I hope you have a great weekend!
Picture Day Wrap Up
Late Photo Orders:
We will not be taking late photo order envelopes this year. Please return all late photo order envelopes to the parents. Parents will need to order / pay online using our school code: 1617-0051 website: www.1stphototexas.com
Please refer the parent directly to 1st Photo Texas (512) 610-9990 to make arrangements for any necessary mail-in-orders.
ISIP Testing Information from Leah Thomas
ALL ISIP testing for grades 1-5 should be completed by September 27th! Our district i station trainer will be coming to Doss this coming Wednesday 9/21 to train teachers on student reports and interventions. The training will be in the computer lab during your planning time. Please write down any i station questions or issues that you have had so that they can be addressed at the training. We hope that this support is beneficial to you in working through this process.
Thanks- Leah
Mosiac Club is back and Needs You!
Volunteer with Mosaic Club this semester! It is such a unique and fun opportunity to learn from and bond with our refugee students. This semester alone we have kiddos from Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Iran, Cuba, Sudan, Ecuador, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
We also have some pretty terrific 5th grade Doss students, middle school, and high school/college volunteers serving as family members/leaders for "family" groups of 4-6 refugee students, allowing them build stronger relationships over our weeks together. Together they'll be rotating through different stations of art, music, and team-building games.
We just need YOU amazing teachers to come support the club and join the fun! Mosaic Club meets just six times this semester, listed below. We invite you join us for one, or all! Helping can be as easy as helping with snacks or as involved as planning an activity (Shout out to Christina Tannert, Nicole Collins, and Donna Johnson for all their help :-))
