A Message from Principal Jackson

Hello Miner Families,

Happy November! I hope everyone is well.

As we move now into week 2 of Term 2, report cards from teh first term of learning will be available next week. Teachers will submit marks by COB on Monday and report cards will be placed in the mail on Tuesday of next week. Please keep an eye out for the report cards in the mail. In addition, DCPS has emailed families so that those in K-5 can have access to the ASPEN portal. This will allow families to see report cards digitally as well as see up to date attendance for your students. Please be sure to follow the directions in the DCPS email. If you did not receive it, please email us at so we can assist you.

Next week we open our first CARE classroom. It will support some of our 2nd and 3rd grade students by allowing them to engage in virtual learning from school with support of Miner staff members in the space. We want to thank our LSAT and WTU partners who joined us on the safety walk to view the spaces, provide feedback, and ask great questions.

Please join us for the Mutual Aid event on Saturday, November 21st. In addition, the garden team will be collecting donations for the give-a-box event (see the attached pdf at the bottom of this newsletter for more details), and AP Lee will be leading some socially distanced arts and crafts with students. Please stop by and join us!

Than you all for all the support and time ensuring your scholars are logged in on canvas daily and joining live sessions. Keep up the great work!

Families who have not turned them in will continue to receive reminders consistently until we return to in person learning, at which point they will be mandatory and students will need to have them turned in prior to returning to school in person. If you have them completed, please email them to

UPDATE: Families must have updated immunization in order to claim their in person learning classroom space if offered. Those who do not have updated documentation prior to November 9th will risk losing their seat and it will be given to the next family on the waitlist.
