Erin's Law Notification
February 2, 2021
At Addison School District #4, we believe it is important to focus on all students' well-being. On January 24, 2013, Gov. Pat Quinn signed a new law extending sexual abuse education in Illinois schools. Like previous years, the Addison School District curriculum will include Erin’s Law, a state-mandated, age-appropriate sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention education program for all students in grades preschool through 12th. The law also requires any adult who works in a school-related capacity to participate in training classes that cover sexual abuse and how to recognize warning signs.
Each K-5th grade class at Army Trail will receive a 30-minute presentation between the week of February 8th-12th or February 16th-19th.
The following topics will be covered:
- Basic Body safety/ awareness
- Setting personal boundaries
- Seeking help from friends and adults we trust
To get more information on Erin’s Law, visit the website at http://www.erinslawillinois.org/.
If you do not wish your son or daughter to participate in the Erin’s Law curriculum or have any questions or concerns, please contact Jamie Smolinski, School Social Worker, at 630-458-2461 or email@example.com by Friday, February 5th, 2020. It is important to note; if we do not hear from you, we will assume your child has permission to participate in this curriculum.
