Erin's Law Notification

February 2, 2021

Please review the below information regarding Erin's Law at Army Trail. If you have any questions, please contact Jamie Smolinski, School Social Worker, at 630-458-2461 or

At Addison School District #4, we believe it is important to focus on all students' well-being. On January 24, 2013, Gov. Pat Quinn signed a new law extending sexual abuse education in Illinois schools. Like previous years, the Addison School District curriculum will include Erin’s Law, a state-mandated, age-appropriate sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention education program for all students in grades preschool through 12th. The law also requires any adult who works in a school-related capacity to participate in training classes that cover sexual abuse and how to recognize warning signs.

Each K-5th grade class at Army Trail will receive a 30-minute presentation between the week of February 8th-12th or February 16th-19th.

The following topics will be covered:

  • Basic Body safety/ awareness
  • Setting personal boundaries
  • Seeking help from friends and adults we trust

If you do not wish your son or daughter to participate in the Erin’s Law curriculum or have any questions or concerns, please contact Jamie Smolinski, School Social Worker, at 630-458-2461 or by Friday, February 5th, 2020. It is important to note; if we do not hear from you, we will assume your child has permission to participate in this curriculum.
