St Bernadette's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 3 | WEEK 8 | 9 September 2022
Message from Geordie
Good afternoon all,
Hope you have had an enjoyable week. Many very excited Dockers fans coming through with their purple shirts this week, and while I can’t say I am overly sympathetic to their cause, I can say that it was a ripper of a game and that I am looking forward to the footy this weekend!
I hope that everyone who attended our parent/teacher interviews appreciated the discussion and felt like they were worthwhile. I know that our teachers have done a lot of work to ensure they have the right data and information to discuss and as always, we value your feedback on this communication. Please leave us your comments in the survey below if you have 2 mins. It is important we know what you find useful and any ideas you might have as to how we can improve!
At this week’s School Advisory Council Meeting we were presented with the final draft of the schools Masterplan for capital development over the next 10 years. This is a culmination of 8 months work at SAC level and I look forward to presenting this to the community at the AGM in Term 4. Between now and then we will have ‘broad brush’ costings completed and the SAC will investigate what projects might be completed in coming years.
In some exciting staffing news, we wish Mrs Hall in Pre Kindy and Kindy all the best for the birth of their first child. In Term Four, Mrs Jessica Tanner will be taking the reins down in Kindy. Mrs Tanner has been with Bernie's for a number of years and is returning from maternity leave. She is a very enthusiastic ELY teacher who has a passion for dance and music and is looking forward to working with our Kindy and Pre Kindy students next term.
Next week we start our Swimming Lessons down at Aqua Jetty. A gentle reminder to parents to make sure students have plenty of healthy food in their lunch boxes, get to bed early each night and have everything labelled. As the father of two 7-year old’s who finished swimming lessons last week, it can be a very tiring time by the end of the two weeks. We will do our best to support them through the last two weeks and have a great end to the term.
Finally, I heard this week that there may be a rumour going around about my whereabouts in 2023 and beyond! For those who are worried I am leaving (or excited!!), I would like to clarify that this is not the case. I love this community and I look forward to the exciting times over the coming years here! No idea where it came from, but a good laugh in the office yesterday!
Hope you have a great weekend and we will see you next week!
