Ending our School Year
There are many ways we will be closing out this memorable school year in order to best meet the needs of all of our students. Outlined are the different ways we will be celebrating. Discuss with your child what they feel would be most beneficial to help them put closure on this school year. We hope to see you!
INDIVIDUAL WRAP-UPS:
- This week and last week were opportunities for teachers and students/families to zoom together and wrap up the year. Please see the class indivdiual learning plans to sign-up if you haven't done so already.
CLASS WRAP-UPS:
- All classrooms will have their last CLASS Zoom meetings on June 10th to mark the last day of school. Teachers will communicate those details in their upcoming communications.
ALL-SCHOOL WRAP-UPS:
- We will have an all-school virtual Zoom assembly at 11:00 a.m. (Zoom links will be sent in the daily learning plan starting on June 9). Join us for a dance party, picture slide-show, an appearance by Fiona the Falcon & the singing of our school song. We will record the assembly for any student who is not able to attend - a link will be sent that afternoon.
- All elementary schools have added an optional Family Car Parade to drive through & wave good-bye to our staff members. Due to a variety of reasons, not all staff members may be able to attend this event. Classroom teachers will communicate their availability with you so you can plan accordingly.
We hope you find the end of our school year thoughtful and special as we are in these most unique times.

Returning Items to School
Therefore, it is important that any items coming to the school be delivered at your scheduled time of pick-up on June 8 or June 9.
Please remember these safety steps:
- Please remain in your car during the entire process
- No one is permitted into the building
Please follow these steps for pick-up:
- Arrival at School: When you arrive at school, please pull up to the pick-up location, open your trunk, and a staff member will place your student’s items into the trunk and remove any school items you’re returning
- Label Your Vehicle: Please write your student’s last name on a piece of paper to display it in your car window and move the process along more quickly.
- Returning School Items: If your student has school items like books or other classroom supplies to return to school, please place those items in a bag, labeled with your child’s name and teacher’s name. Labeling bags will help school staff understand where to return items.
- Appreciations for staff: If you are sending a gift of any kind to staff, it must be brought at your scheduled time of pick-up and held for 72 hours. We will then distribute to necessary staff.
- Library Books: If you need to return Library books, they should be in a separate, labeled bag
- Place Items in Trunk: Please place all of these items in your trunk before you arrive at school
Yearbook Distribution
We are hopeful that we will have yearbooks to distribute at pick-up on June 8 and June 9, but due to recent printing and shipping constraints, we have not yet received them. If we are not able to distribute we will craft an alternate plan for distribution.
If you would like to order one, please click HERE.
If you are unsure if you already ordered one, please check Skyward or email Ms. Childs at childsc@oasd.org

- Videos may include parents or siblings, too!
- Max video length is 90 seconds.
- Videos should be emailed to ixonia@oasd.org where they will be compiled in a larger video. These will be "showcased" the last week of school.

We always welcome new volunteers! We often strike up friendships, and enjoy getting to know one another. Our volunteers range from 4K to 4th grade parents, so it’s a great chance to get to know parents from other grades you may not have met otherwise.
New volunteers bring fresh ideas! So, please let us know if you are interested in being involved! We could use help with event planning, recruiting ideas, fundraising efforts, and engaging families. Thank you so much to those who have reached out. Hope to hear from more of you soon! Send an email to ixoniaelementarypto@gmail.com for more info. Thanks!

Volunteer & Chaperone Background Checks
Would you like to volunteer or chaperone a field trip at the school? All school volunteers must pass a background check prior to volunteering.
The Oconomowoc Area School District is now using SecureVolunteer to process criminal background checks for volunteers. All volunteers must be screened prior to volunteering for a school event or in a building.
SecureVolunteer is a completely web-based/paperless system. BIB takes personal data security and privacy very seriously and has instituted safeguards to protect personal data.
Background checks are good for 3 years.

June 10th, Last Day of School Activities (5K - 4th grade)
We will be marking the end of our school year in a variety of ways. This send-off is particularly unique and want to ensure that there are options for students and families to participate in. The end of each school year typically comes with different emotions; each family needs to decide what feels best for their child to put closure on this school year and do what feels right.
Zoom meetings
- Over the next two weeks, there will be the options for each child to individually "zoom" with each student to wrap up the year and say your goodbyes.
- All classrooms will have their last Zoom meetings also on June 10th to mark the last day of school. Teachers will communicate the specific times with families soon.
Last Day of School Assembly
- As a way to gather one last time for the school year, we will have an all-school virtual Zoom assembly at 11:00 a.m. This will be a great opportunity to see our staff "waving good-bye" to our students.
- This assembly will be recorded for any student who is not able to attend at 11:00. The YouTube link will be sent later that afternoon.
Family Car Parade
- One last option to close the school year is by participating a Family Car Parade. While many staff will be there, not all staff may be available to attend this event.
- In order to keep families and staff safe through 6 foot social distancing, everyone must remain in their vehicle at all times.
- No items will be accepted from family vehicles. All school items or staff gifts should be dropped off on June 8 or June 9 during the pick-up process.
Each teacher will communicate their plans to officially mark the end of the 19-20 school year and say "good-bye & see you next fall" to their students.
