Newsletter 33 - 24 October 2018
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents
Interschool Athletics
Congratulations to Mr Adriano D’Adamo and his Interschool Athletics Team for the amazing effort they put into competing in the Interschool Carnival last Thursday and Friday. It was great to see a real demonstration of team spirit and fabulous behaviour by all. Well done and what a top effort – 2nd place out of 7 strong competing schools. Many thanks to all our parent helpers, trainers and last but not least, students!
Outdoor Classroom Day
Many of our classrooms will be extending their learning from the classroom into the outside environment next Thursday for National Outdoor Classroom Day. We look forward to hearing all about it.

Year 6 Visit from Fr Cyprian
Fr Cyprian visited the Year 6 classes last week to speak to them about his village in Kenya. Here are some words from two of our Year 6 students.
Jessica Gilmore: After Father Cyprian and his friends Brian and Wendy came in this morning, I had mixed emotions. In a way I felt sad. Not sad for the children, well in a way I was, but I felt more sad about the fact that we take certain things for granted. Like water, we walk to a tap and beautiful clean water comes out. We don't have to walk with 10 kilograms of potentially contaminated water to a place two hours away. We also don't have to sell most of our possessions just to get a proper education. However, I also felt happy, happy that people like Father Cyprian got to come over to a beautiful country like Australia to pursue their dreams.
Grace Kane: Looking at those pictures of the village that Father Cyprian grew up in, sparked a feeling of gratitude inside me. It made me realise how lucky I am to be living in a country like Australia. I can't imagine what it would be like to live in Kenya, having to walk two hours to school everyday. The kids over there work so hard for their families, collecting water after school and walking 10 kilograms of it on their heads back home. When they get home, there might not even be any dinner for them. We really shouldn't take living in Australia for granted.
