Good Afternoon Arcola Families!
There is no school on Monday or Tuesday for students! Enjoy the super long weekend and we will see everyone Wednesday morning!
Its Daylight savings weekend! This means that we set our clocks back one hour tonight! We get a whole extra hour!
Don't forget, this week fall retakes will be on Thursday. If you missed fall picture day or you do not like the picture that was taken in September, you can have a "do -over!" Simply bring in the packet that was sent home last month. You can order online at the link below or there are envelopes in the front office.
I want to thank all the parents who came to Arcola on Thursday for our busy Halloween activities. I really appreciate that everyone who joined us had their ID's ready at the door and remembered not to park in our bus loop! Thank you for keeping Arcola Safe!
We will be celebrating our Veterans on November 11th. Please read below on how you can support and participate in this wonderful annual celebration!
Enjoy your long weekend!

VETERANS DAY CELEBRATIONS
Arcola Elementary will once again celebrate and honor our Veterans and our military in our annual Veterans Day Celebration, this year on Monday, November 11, 2019. Military members of our Arcola family are welcome to attend one of our two assemblies on Veterans Day, at 8:30 am and at 1:00 pm. All of the students of Arcola will be singing songs to honor our Veterans, and fifth graders will share patriotic essays about freedom. In a sea of red, white, and blue, and in Arcola’s tradition of giving back, this year, we have partnered with Honor Flights, which flies Veterans from all over the country to visit their Memorial in Washington, DC, at no cost to them or their families. The Arcola Elementary School Chorus welcomed an Honor Flight to DC last spring, and we are excited to sing and greet another Honor Flight this year as well. Each grade will be collecting money each day to donate to Honor Flights from now until Veterans Day. The winning grade will have reserved VIP seats on the risers during our assemblies.
This year we are particularly excited to welcome the 29th Infantry Division Band, featuring our own Mr. Mike Williams!
If you have a family member who is a veteran or are a veteran yourself, we invite you to join us as our special guest. Please use this sign up to let us know you are coming!

HELPING HANDS
Looking for a way to help others this season? If you are interested in helping our neediest Loudoun county students, please donate gifts cards to share with Loudoun county families. Gift Cards may be purchased from any grocery stores, clothing stores, shoe stores, and gas stations and will help support families right in this area. Please mark the gift card amount clearly for distribution purposes. Donations should be addressed to Sam Woodard, Parent Liaison and may be dropped off at the front office.
The multi-faith committee organizing the clothing events being planned for 2020 would like your input on the items besides food and clothing that would be most helpful to your families. Some suggestions so far include backpacks, school supplies, coats and other winter gear, and diapers.
