We have much to be grateful for this week. A rain that forced the Noblesville Invitational indoors reminded me that while we unfortunately didn’t perform on a football field with the guard, the band was still able to perform in competition, unlike 2020 when competitions were cancelled. Congratulations to our band for earning First Place at the competition. You showed up, performed a great set and wowed the crowd. Thank you to our transportation committee that picked up box trucks and had to return the trucks when the schedule was changed. Thanks to our truck drivers Collin and Emily Geisking for pulling the trailer with style again this week. Thank you to Spirit and Chaperones for making our kids feel special. Thank you to the parents that traveled to Noblesville to support the band.
--Travis Sears, Marching Band Liaison

Oct 14 – 9am-4pm – ALL BAND

Color Guard
We are asking all parents and students to review the Marching Band commitment agreement again. It is vital that students attend each rehearsal and performance. An absence should be a very rare occurrence as it impacts the entire team. Students that miss rehearsals may not be allowed to attend the next performance due to safety measures or disciplinary reasons.
Color Guard Show Hair:
Due to time constraints on performance day, students need to arrive to rehearsal with some prep work already completed on their hair. The current show hair requires hair to be straightened, slicked back with gel, and put in a high pony tail. We will insert a weave after practice.
Uniform Washing!
We will be washing the marching band uniforms during Fall Break. Please sign up to reserve a bundle of uniforms if you wish to help. The pickup time will be Tuesday, October 5th, 6pm to 7pm at the semi-trailer parked behind the south end of the high school, next to the transportation building and the grass football field.

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS
Avoid washing the bib pants and jackets together.
Turn all items "inside out" to protect the fabric, shoulder "wings" and collars.
Jackets and bib pants are made of washable polyester-gabardine. Machine wash and dry on the gentle/knit cycle.
Do not overload the washing machine. Launder 4 to 6 pieces at a time.
On stains, you may use "Spray and Wash" and other non-chlorine stain removers when washing.
Only wash with non-chlorine detergent and COLD water.
Do Not Use liquid fabric softener on the uniforms.
Always dry the uniform on a cool permanent press setting. Hot drying will remove the press.
If time allows, on a cooler setting, please iron the bib pant hem to apply a crease. Avoid ironing the snap tape along the seam. This will indent the snaps on the outside of the pant.
Place the uniform on the hanger as soon as the drying cycle completes to avoid wrinkles.
NOTE: Most uniforms do not have student names on the tags. You will need to match the serial number of the uniform items to the numbers on the back of the ID card in the garment bag's pocket.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Travis Sears
