The Importance of Sleep
For the weeks of January 27 through February 14 we will be having children answer a few simple questions about their sleep. We are hoping that with your help we can improve the amount of sleep all Longfellow children are getting.
The number one way you can help is to make sure all electronic devices are shut off at least an hour before bedtime. When children watch TV, play on their tablet, or use their phone it tricks the body into thinking it should be awake instead of winding down. If we can make this one simple change it will make a huge difference in how well our children sleep.
Please let me know if you have any questions about this.
Remember the winter gear!
Skating for Grades 2-5 starts January 23/24
Skating will start January 23/24 for Grades 2-5 during their gym time. It will run for 6 weeks. Kids can wear their boots if they don't have skates. Kids can bring helmets but NO hockey sticks. Parents are welcome to come and skate or help tie skates. Just come to the warming house and meet Mrs. Kaldor there.
Grades K & 1 will not go out this year. The 20 minute time slot, along with having a traveling PE teacher, just does not allow it. Skating will be something they can look forward to when they get into 2nd grade.

Scan those Box Tops!
Reminder to scan for Box Tops! The store receipts need to be scanned and entered via the Box Top app within 14 days of purchase.
The app can be downloaded via the Box Top website (www.boxtops4education.com) Your Box Top account can be linked to Longfellow Elementary School so the earnings are automatically credited to Longfellow.

ATTENDANCE INFORMATION
Please help us with our daily attendance by calling the school if your child is absent or will be leaving early. By calling the school we are able to insure that your child is safe and accounted for each day.
Please call the office ( 446-5051) or email Patty Edlund at edlunpa@fargo.k12.nd.us.
If your child arrives at school after the bell rings at 8:30AM, they will need to stop at the office to get a tardy slip before going to the classroom.
