"Auburn Pride Starts Inside"
February 19, 2021
Dear Auburn Families,
I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to have students back in the building! Even though we have some students in the building and some students working remote, we are focused on keeping the connection with our entire Auburn community. Morning announcements are now in video format so that all of the students can see and hear the same message. It's a great way to start the day off together! We also have an assembly scheduled for next week to honor our students of the month and discuss our March is Reading Month activities.
A few reminders for our families that are in person. Please screen with Clear to Go everyday, even if your child does not come to school that day. If your child is absent whether they are sick or out for another reason, you need to screen them and call the attendance line (248.537.6510) to notify us of their absence. We will be following up with phone calls to parents for all students who are not screened.
If you have not yet filled out the Return to In Seat Parent Agreement, you will find more information here. You can access this agreement in Parent Connect. Once you access it, click on "Return to Learn Agreement", read it and then "sign" it".
For our in seat students, we are holding a mandatory technology swap on Wednesday, February 24th from 9-4. Please come to the main entrance at Auburn and we will buzz you in. Please be mindful of social distancing, wear a mask and bring your own pen. You will be returning the current device that we have loaned to you and receiving a new device for your student. If you do not currently have a district device, but are in need of one, please come and get one at this time. A reminder that the expectation is that every student will be bringing a device to and from school every day to use. Please call the office if you have any questions regarding the process.
The Tech Swap day for our remote learners will be on March 3rd.
Please join us for the PTO meeting next Thursday at 6:00. You will find the zoom link below.
It is important that we have updated phone numbers for all adults on the emergency card. Please call the office if we do not have your current phone number or email address.

Positivity Project - Cheering Others' Success
This element of the Other People Matter Mindset (OPM2) means that when other people succeed, you are happy for them and cheer them on. Being happy for other people when they succeed isn’t always everyone’s initial reaction. Often, it’s easy to become jealous or envious of others’ victories.
But making a commitment towards cheering on other people’s successes can be a great way to improve our own health, happiness, and relationships. People can take active steps to be more genuinely happy for the achievements of others. Ways to do this include: telling others about the success of your modest friend; noticing when your reaction to a sibling’s success is envy or jealousy – and asking yourself why that is; reminding yourself that appreciating the excellence in another is a character strength; asking your successful teammates and classmates what they do to prepare for games or tests.
Yearbooks On Sale Now - Order Now!
This has not been a normal school year, but it is definitely one that our students will remember! We will be capturing this time in history for them with our Auburn yearbook. We invite you to order your yearbook online at ybpay.lifetouch.com and use the Yearbook ID Code: 5933521. The deadline to order is April 19th. Don't miss out!
We need Your Help with Our Yearbook!
We need your help! With the school year starting off remotely (and now continuing remotely), we have no fun photos of our students to include in the 2020-2021 yearbook. We still want to have fun memories of this school year that include our amazing students! It would also be a great way to include pictures of your children if you were not able to attend Picture Day.
Below will be a google link for you to attach pictures of your children. There is a folder for each grade, Leadership, Girl Scouts, and Spirit Week. Please send any photos you have to these various folders. We can’t guarantee that we can use all the photos shared with us, but we will do our best to include as many as we can.
If you’re unable to attach your photo, please feel free to email a copy of the photo to email@example.com or Karin.Koberstein@avondaleschools.org with your child's name and which grade or group you would like the picture to be added.
Here is the link to the folders, please place your photo in the proper folder.
Thank you for helping us create memories of this most unexpected school year.
