November 2023 Hillcrest Newsletter
November News
Thank You!
Over the last two days, we have created many fond memories with our students. Monday our students dressed fancy. Wow! There were beautiful and handsome outfits that filled the hallways at Hillcrest Elementary School. Our staff participated too! The cafeteria was decorated, and the students enjoyed turkey for lunch.
On Tuesday, our entire school family had a family feast together in the hallway. We united with our school chant, ate food, and listened to Mr. Lopez read the story The Night Before Thanksgiving over the intercom. It was a wonderful event that we hope our students enjoyed.
Thank you for the donations from our families. We were able to serve 280 students with raisins, dried fruit, meat sticks, cheese sticks, and popcorn. Each student also got a juice box. We were amazed by what our families donated. We could not have hosted this event for our students without your support.
Do you follow our social media pages? Pictures and a video were posted for our families to see the fun. Go take a look!
Did your student talk about our school family feast?

Lexia and STMath
How do I know if my student is staying on task when on Lexia?
The units target corresponds to the student's usage target and is a rate of two units for every ten minutes of usage. For example, a student with a weekly usage goal of 40 minutes would have a weekly target of 8 units.
How many minutes/puzzles should my student be completing on ST Math each week?
- Kindergarten and 1st Grade: 60 minutes/40 puzzles
- Grades 2nd – 4th: 90 minutes/60 puzzles
**This is not all completed at home. Students get time to work on Lexia and/or STMath at school too.
Mrs. McKay's 4th Grade Class with Jiji the Penguin! - They were STMath Champions the first week.
