Report Cards
We are excited to share your child’s growth as a learner! The South Burlington Elementary Schools report on your child’s current level of achievement based on their ability to meet or progress towards mid-year benchmarks. When Vermont adopted the Common Core State Standards, we scored students (based on assessments) on their progression toward meeting the “end of the year” standard. Now are able to score students where they are now, rather than what we believe their learning trajectory will be in June regarding end of year standards. Every score on the report card represents where your child is at currently. You will also find a course description directly on the report card. Please check in with your teacher if you have any questions. Parents are asked to keep what is inside the envelope, sign the outside and return back to school to be used again at the end of the year.

Cold and Flu Season
We are starting to hear of and see students and staff with flu and flu-like illnesses in our school community. Please adhere to the 3rd bullet below regarding keeping your child home 24 hours fever free (without fever-reducing medicine) before returning to school. It is also not too late to a get a flu shot if you have not done so already!
Take everyday preventive actions to stop the spread of germs (click this link and see below):
- Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
- While sick, limit contact with others as much as possible to keep from infecting them.
- If you or your child is sick with flu-like illness, CDC recommends and our school guidelines are that your child stays home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone except to get medical care or for other necessities. (Your child's fever should be gone for 24 hours without the use of a fever-reducing medicine before returning to school).
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. After using a tissue, throw it in the trash and wash your hands.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Germs spread this way.
- Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with germs like flu.
