*You take excellent care of your friends, new people
*You accept that people are different
*You have respect for the feelings and well being of others
KIA ORA WHANAU, FROM MR O
We have completed a fantastic full week of school and what an amazing week it was! The school is very settled with the kids and staff mentioning the positive vibe they are feeling around the schools.
This week we are getting in to our programmes in the classrooms, making new connections with the teacher and class mates and beginning to build the learning routines. You will probably notice how tired your child(ren) are at the end of this week - the learning and heat certainly tire us out!
The Vogeltown Adventure is going to be on Friday the 28th February. We have had to make some last minute changes. We will be sending a detailed letter home next week. If you want to come, we will be asking parents to bring their own cars as room on the buses is tight. We will not be asking any money for this trip as it is part of our topic study this term.
Last week we sent home a 'Parent homework sheet' for every parent to fill in. This sheet is very important to us and we want to get 100% of these sheets back to school. The sheets give us some insight in to your child's passions, interests, talents, their curriculum interests and any other info you think we should know about your child. If you have not got a sheet, please ask your child's teacher or ask for a sheet at the office(s).
WELCOME - New VS students and whanau, Week 2 2020
We know that all our new students (and adults) and families will love their time at Vogeltown as they become part of our massive family! He mihi ki to tatou iwi hou - a welcome to our new people.
CLASS REPS T1 2020
The class reps have a massive leadership role to play at school - student meetings, student voice, helping with lunchtime games, helping the teachers, doing class surveys and running assemblies.
Well done to: Abby Hurley, Sam Knight, Jevana Dost, Harlan Goodin, Kace Raven, Leeanya Lepper, Ollie Treadway.

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE
As you will be aware the situation is still evolving internationally concerning the coronavirus. Children are currently returning to classrooms. The health of all people is a priority and we will always err on the side of caution. If you have a particular concern please contact Healthline at 0800 611 116. Further information is available at:
Novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) guidance – Ministry of Healt
COMMUNICATION UPDATE FORM
Please fill this form in and return it to your child's classroom teacher if you had a change in address, contact numbers, email address or any other contact details you think we need to know. Thanks heaps!
SWIMMING AT VS
As part of our PE and Health curriculum, we expect the kids to swim everyday. The new swimming curriculum encourages water safety, water exploration and water confidence at this age, so we do not expect kids to be doing lengths of freestyle and butterfly.
Please make sure your child(ren) have their togs ready to go each day, with the weather the way it is currently, we will be making the most of the pool.
If you want to use the pool after school hours, please see the senior office for a key. All keys are $45 ($5 back one key returned at the end of the season). You will be required to sign an agreement with the school - please read the terms and conditions carefully.
