CPS Teachers Make A Difference

Week Ending September 16, 2016

A successful week thanks to you

Your professionalism and dedication to the students is well noted. Thank you for getting your unit plans to me on time and sending out those emails. The personal feedback from several of you is greatly appreciated by the parents.

This past week our students learned the basics of using the 3D software and the students should now be able to simple projects integrated with your lessons (e.g. a medallion, a small building). We would like the students to be able to practice this new found skill. Next month I will be bringing in someone to give an a workshop on stop-animation.

We will not have a staff meeting on Friday, September 23rd, but will have our weekly individual meetings. Thank you to Mrs. Rockett for filling in for Kendra this coming Monday and a thank you to Mrs. Jones for filling in on Friday morning for me. Thank you to Mrs. Teitzman for covering as needed. Much appreciation.

Starting the week of October 10th, we will be having lunch faculty meetings on Mondays instead of Fridays.

Monday morning the volunteers will be having their monthly breakfast. We are fortunate to have individuals with such talent and want to be working with our teachers and students. A calendar will be posted on Monday in the volunteer 'lounge' with a schedule for each of the volunteers. If you know when your volunteer comes in to meet with your class, please let Ava know so she can add to the calendar.

A Moment About Reflection Day on 10/21

Reflection Day on 10/21 is a morning for the parents to come to the school with the students and see what the students have learned over the past 2 months. This is our version of 'curriculum night' except for the students will be the ones showing off what they have learned. Each class will only be about 25 minutes. During that time, student work will be displayed (including folders/writings up-to-date) and the students should demonstrate in ensemble what they have been learning. This may be in the form of a debate, demonstrating a lab experiment, reteaching a math concept through an activity, etc.

Please make sure that in your reflection presentation and work that is displayed that there is a connection to the arts (music, theater, dance or visual art) and there is evidence of applied knowledge.

October is a very 'choppy' month and it may be difficult for continuity. Please keep in mind when planning.
