Ranger News You Can Use! December 5, 2021
Message from Mr. Wahl, Principal
Dear Parents,
Next week, December 6 - 10th, will be a busy week at Smithson Valley High School. We will have plenty of concerts, activities, and STAAR End of Course Exam testing all throughout the week.
On Wednesday, December 8th is our Advanced Academic Night starting at 6:00 pm in the SVHS Auditorium. This is a night where parents and students can learn more about preAP, Advanced Placement (AP), UT OnRamps, and Dual Credit courses offered next school year. You will have the opportunity to meet with teacher and student ambassadors to learn about classes and get your questions answered! I would encourage anyone interested in taking these types of courses next year attend this informational night.
Let's have a great Ranger Week!

10 MORE SCHOOL DAYS THIS SEMESTER - HOW TO RELEASE YOUR STUDENT EARLY
The next few weeks will be very busy in the Front Office.
PLEASE see below for best ways to release your student early that will not only help you and your student, but also our Front Office staff.
To have your student ready to Leave Early for an Appointment please see the following:
- #1 Send a written note with your student and have your student bring your note to the front office before school so that we may exchange your note for a Green Pass to Leave Campus.
- Or, #2 Call the Front Office 830-885-1000 as far in advance as possible, so that we may have a Green Pass written and delivered to your student's class. Sometimes it can take 20-30 minutes to process a pass for a student to leave, (especially during lunch times), so the sooner we know a student is leaving, we will be able to start the process.
- Please DO NOT SEND AN EMAIL to release your students.
* FINAL EXAMS: We will not call into classrooms during Final Exams as other students may be testing. If your student is leaving early from a Final Exam class period, they must have their green pass prior to going into their class. If your student is leaving early during Final Exam days, the best time to leave will be in between classes or during a class period without a Final Exam. Writing a note for your student to leave and having your student bring that before school, will be the best way to leave early.
- Reminder: Phone Call check outs will be cut off at 4:05pm.
